On Tuesday, Geraldo Rivera took a swipe at the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms with a generally fact-free tweet attacking what many see as the most important right enshrined in the Constitution. That tweet was overshadowed by a response from actor James Woods, who encouraged Rivera to engage in research before sounding off on issues.
“Sorry mates I love guns but If the 2d Amendment really allows psychos to buy machine guns with silencers then the 2d Amendment sucks,” Rivera tweeted.

That prompted Woods to respond: “As a purported journalist, could you not simply do research on the facts to prevent embarrassing yourself like this? It’s not difficult.”

Indeed.
For starters, it’s now being reported that 64-year-old Stephen Paddock, the gunman responsible for the tragic Las Vegas shooting in which over 50 people were killed and more than 500 others wounded, used a semi-automatic weapon outfitted with something called a “bump stock,” which allows the weapon to mimic a fully automatic rifle.
Moreover, there were no “silencers” attached to the weapon or weapons he reportedly used. For starters, “silencers,” or suppressors, as they are actually called, do not “silence” a weapon the way Hollywood depicts.
And it’s important to note that fully automatic weapons simply cannot be purchased the way a semi-automatic AR-15 can.
If Rivera had spent, say, five minutes on Google, he might have realized that. But “if,” as my grandfather used to say, can be a mighty big word.

That’s actually an excellent point.
Since the tragic Las Vegas shooting, anti-gun liberals have used whatever means available, including social media, to spread anti-Second Amendment propaganda and distortions, no doubt hoping to see the amendment repealed.
As one can imagine, these attempts have only revealed the ignorance of the anti-gun left. Unfortunately, instead of educating themselves on the issue, liberals have simply doubled down on the “stupid,” showing their true colors.
A post at the Gateway Pundit correctly observes that “‘psychos’ and terrorists can easily purchase or rent a vehicle and plow over people as we have seen numerous times…”
So we have to ask: Why aren’t these same liberals demanding vehicle control? What about background checks for those who wish to rent a van or a truck?
