James Woods to Donald Trump: ‘If you fold on immigration, you are a one term president’

On Tuesday, actor James Woods issued a stern warning to President Donald Trump and the GOP on illegal immigration and amnesty, telling the chief executive in no uncertain terms that if he folds on the issue, he will be a one-term president.

“If you fold on immigration, you are a one term president,” he said on Twitter.

“That’s it. If #Trump rolls over on #DACA, he loses my vote. That is a promise,” he later added.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

He then hammered feckless GOP leaders who apparently have yet to learn that they actually have the power to get things done:

“End #DACA completely, build the wall, defund sanctuary cities, end chain migration, enforce voter ID, and deport all lawbreakers. Democrats never listened to us when they were in control. Wake up, Republicans. You have the power. Use it, for God’s sake!”

He wasn’t finished, targeting Democrats as well:

Woods isn’t the only one concerned that Trump may roll over and give Democrats what they want on DACA.

In an article published at the Daily Caller, Rep. Louis Gohmert, R-Texas, said that Republicans will lose Congress and Trump will face impeachment if Republicans cave on the issue:

Let it be known and clearly stated here without reservation: If Republicans again help pass an amnesty bill, no matter what legalistic or deceptive name it is given without first securing the border and building a wall where it is needed, enough Republican voters will stay home next November that the majority will be surrendered to the Democrats.

Following that devastating loss, the first order of business for new House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in January 2019 in the 116th Congress will be an impeachment vote regarding President Donald J. Trump. The great hope for a return to the rule of law that was created when President Trump was elected will be gone.

As we began this new year in Congress, we have heard about discussions between House and Senate “leaders,” regarding the promises they made to certain House and Senate members that they will indeed get a vote to reinstate President Obama’s DACA amnesty.

“The president said yesterday he trusts the Members of the House and Senate in the room with him at the time to create an appropriate DACA bill and he will ‘do’ it. He knows most everyone in the room was not supportive of him, even a few weeks before his election,” he wrote. “Yet he wants to work with them to the point he is trying to be extremely gracious.  The problem is that a large number of people in the room with him can be trusted to do what they can to stab him in the back. Their goal would be to get him to sign something that would violate the promises made by the president to his voters who ushered in the breathtaking election of 2016.”

In other words, it would be Trump’s “read my lips, no new taxes” moment.

“Anyone who brings any type of legislation to the House and Senate floors that gives any legal status to groups who are not here legally before the wall is built will be the proximate cause of betraying the determined voters who elected Donald J. Trump as president,” Gohmert added. “History will more than ‘little note’ and will certainly ‘long remember’ that the United States was undone by these elected leaders who were so concerned with getting accolades from the left-wing media that they rallied their followers into handing the majority to the Democratic party, which ended the last, best chance to Make America Great Again.”

Trump, however, said during a Tuesday press conference with the Norwegian prime minister that any permanent deal to codify the DACA program into law has to include funding for a border wall.

Any DACA solution, he said, “has to include the wall, because without the wall it all doesn’t work.”

But, Neil Munro said at Breitbart.com, Trump has “effectively endorsed” a House measure that “would implement the most important 35 elements of Trump’s 70-point October immigration plan while providing a minimalist amnesty for 670,000 enrolled ‘DACA’ illegals.”

A White House statement said:

President Donald J. Trump is grateful to Chairman [Bob] Goodlatte, Chairman [Mike] McCaul, Congressman [Raul] Labrador, and Congresswoman [Martha] McSally for introducing immigration legislation that would accomplish the President’s core priorities for the American people.  The President looks forward to advancing legislation that secures the border, ends chain migration, cancels the visa lottery, and addresses the status of the DACA population in a responsible fashion.

It remains to be seen what the end product will be, however.
