Is Freedom of Speech Under Attack on Facebook?

Questions are being asked as to whether Facebook is censoring freedom of speech, removing articles, comments, and banning individuals from posting for a period of time of what Facebook administrators deem as not being politically correct.

Those questions now appear to be true. The Gatestone Institute, a non-partisan, not-for-profit international policy council and think tank, is dedicated to educating the public about what the mainstream media fails to report.  One report includes an incident that should worry all Facebook users.

It appears that last September, German Chancellor Angela Merkel met Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook, at a UN development summit in New York and while Chancellor Merkel’s microphone was still on, it recorded Merkel asking Zuckerberg what could be done to stop anti-immigration postings being written on Facebook.

When she asked Zuckerberg if he was working on something, he told her that something was in the works.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Zuckerberg has been accused of massive censuring and now it appears, due to the latest Facebook initiative called, “Initiative for Civil Courage Online”, which at this point, is focusing on European Facebook user, in which according to Facebook, the initiative will focus on “racist” comments and “threatening” posts.

The focus is on users who post their dissatisfaction of the immigration policies that have been instituted in several European countries and now, European leaders are looking for ways to silence those who are in disagreement.

Douglas Murray of the GateStone Institute stated, “The sinister reality of a society in which the expression of majority opinion is being turned into a crime has already been seen across Europe. Just last week, reports from the Netherlands told of Dutch citizens being visited by the police and warned about posting anti-mass-immigration sentiments on Twitter and other social media.”

“In this toxic mix, Facebook has now …knowingly or unknowingly, played its part. The lid is being put on the pressure cooker at precisely the moment that the heat is being turned up. A true ‘initiative for civil courage’ would explain to both Merkel and Zuckerberg that their policy can have only one possible result,” Murray said.

Interestingly enough, while Zuckerberg works with Merkel and other European leaders who are not fond of their immigration policy, German spy chief, Hans-Georg Maassen, issued a warning that ISIS has been sending terrorists to Europe disguised as refugees, something Merkel and some other leaders are ignoring.
