If Trump-Biden rematch were held today, poll says Biden would lose

If a rematch were held today, according to a new Rasmussen poll, Donald Trump would beat Joe Biden.

A stunning new Rasmussen poll released Wednesday reveals “If a rematch of the 2020 election were held now, Trump would win, because only 79% of Biden voters say they would vote for him again and seven percent (7%) would switch their vote to Trump.”

“By comparison,” according to Rasmussen, “81% of Trump’s 2020 voters would vote for him again and just two percent (2%) would switch to Biden.”

This comes in the wake of the weekend intelligence debacle that saw the Taliban overrun Afghanistan’s capital city of Kabul. In a separate Rasmussen survey, 51 percent of likely voters said “Biden is more to blame for the Taliban taking over Afghanistan, while 38% say former President Trump is more to blame.”

According to Rasmussen, “Voters give Biden low marks for his handling of national security issues, with only 38% rating him excellent or good, while 48% say his handling of national security has been poor.” The polling firm added, “Fifty-nine percent (59%) of voters believe the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan makes the threat of terrorism against the United States worse. Just nine percent (9%) think the threat of terrorism is now better.”

Fox News is reporting that the Biden administration “is depending on the Taliban to give evacuating Americans ‘safe passage’ to the Kabul airport just six weeks after President Biden said that he doesn’t trust the terrorist organization.”

“Sixty-eight percent (68%) of Democrats rate Biden good or excellent in his handling of national security issues,” Rasmussen learned, “but only 12% of Republicans and 29% of unaffiliated voters share that opinion. Seventy-eight percent (78%) of Republicans rate Biden’s handling of national security poor, as do 16% of Democrats and 53% of unaffiliated voters.”

The survey was conducted Aug. 16-17 among 1,000 likely voters for a +/- 3 percentage point sampling error and a 95 percent level of confidence.

Biden had blustered in July that it was not likely the Taliban would sweep over the country, and he went to Camp David over the weekend as his administration ended up with egg all over its collective face. Even the media seemed to turn on him, and Congressional Republicans and conservative commentators are having a field day.

Adding insult to injury, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms on Wednesday compared the reported Taliban gun confiscations in Kabul with Biden’s preference for banning semiautomatic rifles and 9mm pistols. In a scathing news release, CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb stated, “One of the first things Joe Biden did after taking office was push his gun ban agenda. One of the first things the Taliban did after taking Kabul was go door-to-door, seizing firearms. Biden says banning so-called ‘assault weapons’ and 9mm pistols will make the country safer. The Taliban is telling people they don’t need guns because they are safe. Those are some very alarming parallels.”

Writing for the Second Amendment Foundation’s Investigative Journalism Project, editor Lee Williams took a hard poke at the president, noting in the headline, “Joe Biden And The Taliban Agree—No One Needs A Gun.”
