Idaho Governor Brad Little signed two laws on Monday, one that bans transgender males from competing against girls or women in sports and one that prohibits changing a birth certificate for anything except a clerical error. The Fairness for Women in Sports Act and the Idaho Vital Statistics Act caused an uproar and can be seen on news media across the country, since Idaho is the first state to do this. Cue the outrage.
House Bill 509, the Idaho Vital Statistics Act, requires that birth certificates issued in the state record the child’s “sex” at birth, which is defined on the basis of chromosomes and anatomy. The sex on a birth certificate may be subsequently amended only in cases of clerical error, “fraud, duress, or material mistake of fact,” or a disorder of sexual development. The two new laws were routinely referred to in the media as “anti-transgender” bills, but might better be thought of as “truth about biological sex” bills, since they merely give legal priority to the objective reality of biological sex, rather than adopting the novel ideological construct that a person’s subjective and self-selected “gender identity” is more important. The Fairness in Women’s Sports Act
House Bill 500, specifically states that only biological females are allowed to compete on sports teams that are designated for females, girls, or women in public schools or colleges. The definition of biological females is determined by “The student’s internal and external reproductive anatomy;
The student’s normal endogenously produced levels of testosterone; An analysis of the student’s genetic makeup.”
Because the current problems with transgenders also delete the positive actions of Title IX, a Federal Civil Rights law, Idaho enacted HB 500 to re-equalize the situation.
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Title IX (Title 9) was created in 1972 to equalize women’s sports to men’s sports. It was designed to give the same financial assistance to both – in programs and scholarships. While application of the features of Title IX have not always been followed to the letter, the law has given women the ability to compete fairly.
Traditionally, women’s sports were underfunded. Title IX was meant to correct that as much as possible without damaging men’s sports. It is a civil rights law intended to bring women’s sports up to the same standard as the men. But in recent years, the transgender issue has literally turned sports into a jumble of unfair practices that delete the ability of women to compete. Girls have complained and even filed suit that transgenders are literally taking over women’s sports, as we previously reported.
Enter, the Idaho Legislature and Idaho Governor Brad Little
Though many Democrats in the state legislature opposed the Fairness in Women’s Sports Act and the Vital Statistics Act, and LGBTQ groups are threatening to sue Governor Little (he just signed it, the legislature passed it), the fact remains that girls and women have been robbed of their ability to pursue sports because of the transgender situation. Other states have killed similar bills before they got through the legislature.
Will Idaho be able to stand strong against the deluge of lawsuits and boycott threats from corporations like Nike? Only time will tell.
