Homeland Security prohibited from using ‘jihad’ and ‘sharia’ – words that ‘disrespect’ Muslims

johnsonSometimes, one has to wonder why we even have federal agencies like the Department of Homeland Security.  If they’re not going to protect us from people who want to kill us, what good are they?  Now comes word the DHS is fighting groups like ISIS with political correctness.

On Monday, the Daily Caller reported that the Homeland Security Council (HSAC) submitted a report to DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson instructing the department to not use any language that might be considered “disrespectful” to Muslims.

The words “jihad,” “sharia” and “takfir” are among the list of words not to be used.

The Daily Caller added:

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

The report was crafted by an HSAC subcommittee that Secretary Johnson created in November 2015. The head of that subcommittee, Farah Pandith, was appointed by Johnson in May 2015. The subcommittee published the report on June 9.

In addition to combatting violent extremism by reaching out to “gender diverse” Americans and teaching youth “appropriate online etiquette,” the report recommends that the DHS “avoid stigmatizing specific communities.”

The report urges DHS officials to “Reject religiously-charged terminology and problematic positioning by using plain meaning American English.”

Pamela Geller, president of the American Freedom Defense Initiative, wrote:

Sharia enforcement on DHS language. If we have submitted and surrendered, why do we even need a Department of Homeland Security?

Good question…

She added:

Under Islamic law (sharia), you cannot criticize or offend Islam. Even the name of the counterterror program, “Countering Violent Extremism,” is sharia-complaint. So if our intel agencies are adhering to the sharia, what is their mission? To police us for sharia adherence? I am sure Omar Mateen would be pleased.

No doubt.  It’s enough to make one wonder just whose side these people are on?  And who, exactly, are they working for?
