Have We Become the Socialist States of America?

One day a couple of weeks ago, we all woke up to empty grocery shelves, shortages of important items needed by all, a scene akin to Venezuela or Cuba. America is spending trillions to bail out the economy, when we were already trillions in debt. All of a sudden, Governors and Mayors have declared rigid “emergency” orders that could suspend or limit the Bill of Rights. Have we become the Socialist States of America?

For the power hungry among us, it’s perfect. For the rest of us, the rule of law that is our Constitution seems to be under siege from an unseen foe: COVID-19.

National Guard Call ups in the Socialist States of America

National Guard contingents in Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Montana, New Jersey, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin have been activated. But the head of the National Guard says that amount may double by the end of the weekend to help with the coronavirus, according to Politico.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Keep in mind that these are not large contingents of soldiers so far – in most cases it’s only a small number in each place to help with cleaning, medical and food needs. Unlike hurricane or tornado disasters, this one places even the soldiers who come to help in “the line of fire.” Over 4,000 guardsmen are deployed in 31 states at this point, bringing needed masks, and medical supplies from the military’s reserves, according to Secretary of Defense Dr Mark Esper.

California Governor Newcom has ‘taken’ vacant hospitals and secured hotel rooms to house COVID-19 patients to ease the pressure on the current hospitals. He has issued a virtual lockdown on people throughout the state’s 14 million residents with the most rigid emergency plans to date, according to Fox.

“If you want to establish a framework of martial law, which is ultimate authority and enforcement, we have the capacity to do that, but we are not feeling at this moment that is a necessity.” Gov Newsom according to The Sacramento Bee

We hope it never becomes a necessity, Governor.

Jared Harris at The Western Journal writes (emphasis mine),

Quarantines may be an acceptable measure to achieve this in countries like China and North Korea, but the suspension of civil law and freedoms has no place in America.

In place of military law backed by force of arms, it should be up to every American citizen to practice common sense during our own viral outbreak.

Newsom has specifically stated that they are not planning on martial law at this point, and states that he believes California residents will use a sort of peer pressure to comply with the situation. We can echo that we sincerely hope he doesn’t go that direction. Virus or not, civil disobedience would most certainly ensue.

Standby authority

The US Military has reportedly been given the standby authority for “continuation of government” should our national leadership fall ill or be incapacitated from the COVID-19 virus, according to Joseph Fitsanakis at Intelnews.  Such orders may be at least part of the reason for the unprecedented lockdown of military personnel as the virus spreads.

Fitsanakis writes:

“For the first time in the modern history of the United States, the Department of Defense has been given standby orders to ensure the “continuity of government”, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. These extraordinary measures, which include evacuating White House officials to remote quarantined locations, and devolving the nation’s leadership to “second-tier officials”, were originally meant for the aftermath of a nuclear war…

…However, according to Newsweek, “Above-Top Secret” contingency plans are now in place, in case the nation’s Constitutional power successors are incapacitated by the pandemic. Standby orders have been issued for a series of plans under the US Northern Command (NORTHCOM), which was created in response to the 9/11 attacks as a homeland defense military authority…

… Defense Secretary, Mark T. Esper, has authorized NORTHCOM to “prepare to deploy” in support of these “potential extraordinary missions”. These include “the possibility of some form of martial law”, where military commanders would be given executive powers across the US until a new civilian leadership would emerge…”

Business management classes teach students to NEVER give a power hungry person control of an office or business. Why? Because they will run over the top of the owner as well as the employees. They have to be fired, but the damage they do is sometimes extreme. Now that some of these Governors and Mayors, have tasted of unbridled power, how much of a fight will it be to get our America back after this virus?

We hope that none of these scary scenarios will come to pass, and that level heads will prevail. We are hoping for the best and trusting that there are good people all along the chains of command that are interested in helping Americans, not ruling over them. We don’t want to be the Socialist States of America.
