Half of voters see Biden’s China policy worse than Trump’s

Just over a month into his White House term, Joe Biden is in trouble with half of likely voters saying his policy toward China is worse than former President Donald Trump’s, according to a new survey released Thursday by Rasmussen Reports.

By contrast, 31 percent of likely voters think Biden’ policy is better than Trump’s. and 11 percent see the policies of both administrations to be about the same.

As reported by Rasmussen, “Partisanship may explain some difference of opinion on the China policy, but not all of it. Seventy-five percent (75%) of Republicans say Biden’s China policy is worse than Trump’s, but so do 23% of Democrats and 55% of voters not affiliated with either major party.”

More American voters see China as an enemy than an ally, Rasmussen added. Fifty percent of survey respondents think China is an enemy while only 8 percent think China is an ally. Thirty-seven percent believe the relationship between the two nations is “somewhere in between,” Rasmussen said.

The poll had one alarming revelation.

“Sixty-three percent (63%) believe the U.S. government ignores abuses by the Chinese government that it would not tolerate in other countries because of China’s economic power,” Rasmussen reported.

With little good news for the new administration, will it be long before there are efforts to curtail Rasmussen’s activities?

A letter sent to leading communications organizations by Reps. John McNerney and Anna G. Eshoo suggests Congress may start pushing to silence conservative news organizations that are critical of Biden. The letter contains direct references to the One America News Network (OANN), Newsmax and Fox News.

The letter says McNerney and Eshoo are “concerned about the role (various companies) play in disseminating misinformation to millions of…subscribers.” Copies of the personalized letter went to the heads of Dish Network, Verizon, Roku, Amazon, Apple, Comcast, Charter Communications and Altice USA.

“Experts have noted that the right-wing media ecosystem is ‘much more susceptible…to disinformation, lies, and half-truths’,” the two Democrats wrote. “Right-wing media outlets, like Newsmax, One America News Network (OANN), and Fox News all aired misinformation about the November 2020 elections.”

But what about alleged “misinformation” aired by apparently liberal news outlets?

Currently, there is a flap about how “liberal” networks are allegedly ignoring the growing scandals involving Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo. One scandal involves his alleged mishandling of the COVID-19 crisis and lying about the number of nursing home fatalities. The other involves allegations of sexual harassment.

Fox News is reporting that former CNN digital producer Steve Krakauer “feels the liberal network has shown a clear “double standard” by failing to cover sexual harassment allegations leveled against Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo after running wild with misconduct claims against former President Trump and Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.”

In a separate Fox News report, the news agency says “The mainstream media appears to be giving cover to Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo by not covering sexual harassment allegations leveled against him by former administration aide Lindsey Boylan as CNN, MSNBC, ABC’s “World News Tonight,” CBS’ “Evening News” and NBC’s “Nightly News” all skipped the bombshell on Wednesday.”

It should not be surprising that the establishment media gives little if any attention to the Rasmussen poll results on Biden and China.
