Gun rights groups take satirical swipe at Obama, Clinton

Jihadi Lives MatterTwo leading gun rights organizations yesterday posted a satirical swipe at President Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton on their respective Facebook pages, and the reaction has been overwhelming.

It’s Alan Gottlieb’s way of poking the president and Clinton in the aftermath of a week that has seen a massacre in Paris, while Obama talked about pushing gun control during his final year in office, and Clinton picked up an award for her anti-gun posturing from the Brady Center last night.

Pundits Pat Buchanan and Peggy Noonan both came down hard on the president’s failures to address terrorists, particularly his underestimation of the ISIS threat. And many are wondering if Obama and Clinton are even in the same dimension as the rest of the country.

Gottlieb, chairman of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms and executive vice president and founder of the Second Amendment Foundation, put it bluntly.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

“They’re living in an alternate universe,” he said. “They’re not on our planet. Obama’s response to ISIS is another way to spike gun sales.”

It was CCRKBA and SAF that posted the image of Clinton and Obama laughing, with the superimposed caption, “And then I told them ISIS is contained.” If one looks closely, there’s a smaller message in the lower left corner of the image that says “#JihadiLivesMatter.”

While it may be good for a laugh, the satire points to a problem that brings no smiles to Second Amendment activists who consider the threat of terrorism no laughing matter.

There are strong signals that the Obama-Clinton approach to many things is being rejected. A Quinnipiac poll revealed Thursday that Colorado voters support, by a 51-44 percent margin, allowing teachers and school officials to carry guns on campus. It also further cemented the image of Democrats as the party of gun control, noting that support for armed school staff runs 81-16 percent among Republicans, while Democrats oppose the idea 75-22 percent.

Another Quinnipiac poll released Wednesday showed all the Republican candidates beating Clinton by wide margins in Colorado, a state dominated by liberal politics in Denver.

Meanwhile, Rasmussen Reports revealed that the president’s position on allowing Syrian refugees into the country doesn’t sell with the majority of likely U.S. voters. According to Rasmussen, “Sixty percent (60%) of Likely U.S. Voters oppose the settling of Syrian refugees in the state where they live.”

So, while terrorists seem to be on the offensive, Obama and Clinton continue to put gun control high on their “to do” lists.

Observed Buchanan: “Suddenly, his (Obama’s) rhetoric is discordantly out of touch with reality. And, for his time on the global stage, the phrase ‘failed president’ comes to mind.”
