The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms and its sister organization, the Second Amendment Foundation have scheduled a “Grassroots Activism Summit” on Zoom, airing Tuesday, May 26, Wednesday, May 27 and Thursday, May 28.
The Tuesday event will be online at 7 p.m. Eastern time, while the Wednesday session goes live at 7 p.m. Central time and Thursday’s program has the same 7 p.m. start in the Pacific time zone. It is not necessary to participate in all three, as each of the Zoom casts cover the same subjects.
Titled “Grassroots Activism in the COVID Environment,” the program will be hosted by Glen Caroline, recently hired jointly by the two organizations as External Affairs director. He will be broadcasting from Virginia, while SAF founder and CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb, and SAF Director of Outreach Andrew Gottlieb will both appear from their headquarters in Washington state.
Caroline said each session will be live, with recurring material.
Pre-registration is required, and there are already about 500 people signed up, the elder Gottlieb reported. It is not required that participants chose the Zoom broadcast timed for their specific time zone, he noted.
According to a joint CCRKBA/SAF announcement, the free grassroots training session “will discuss steps you can take now to enhance your defense of the Second Amendment in our current times.”
Content will be the same for each Zoom webinar, “but we want to give our members the flexibility to choose the one that best fits their individual schedules,” Gottlieb explained.
In a telephone conversation, Caroline said this is a way to reach the grassroots while people are essentially stuck at home. He said the program lasts approximately one hour.
Caroline spent 29 years at the National Rifle Association, working primarily as the managing director of Grassroots Programs and Campaign Field Operations. He is widely considered to be an expert in the field, and both SAF and CCRKBA are glad to have him aboard.
Throughout the pandemic panic, gun rights organizations have been busy battling emergency orders that have shot down gun stores and shooting ranges, making it impossible to provide firearms safety training and gun and ammunition sales to legions of new gun owners. Many first-time buyers discovered to their shock that firearms are actually not as easy to legally obtain as they had been lead to believe.
Their frustration has, in many cases, turned into activism.
That’s why SAF and CCRKBA joined forces to present this online training session.
