GOP Rep. Steve Scalise demands Democrats apologize after release of Mueller report

On Thursday, the full, albeit somewhat redacted, Mueller report was released to Congress and the American people.  Rep. Steve Scalise, R-La., issued a statement demanding Democrats apologize for two years of smearing the president and pushing what amounts to a tin-foil hat conspiracy.

He also demanded Democrats stop harassing President Trump and his family in what now appears to be an ongoing coup d’etat to remove him from office.

Scalise’s statement began with a succinct summary of the report, which can be seen below:  Now that the Mueller Report has formally been released, two things are abundantly clear:

  • There was no collusion with Russia, and
  • There was no obstruction of justice.

“I am glad Attorney General Barr made this report available to the public so the American people can see for themselves that while Russia clearly tried to interfere with our elections during President Obama’s tenure, there is no longer any doubt: there was no collusion with the Trump campaign. Democrats who have been running around for the last two years making outlandish claims about the President and his family ought to apologize to the American people for misleading them and the press about this smear campaign. While Washington Democrats hoped for the special counsel to deliver a collusion conclusion, this report instead delivered a death blow to their baseless conspiracy theories,” Scalise said.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

He added:

“Now it’s finally time for Speaker Pelosi and her liberal lieutenants to stop harassing the President and his family, and instead start working in a bipartisan way to address the problems facing hard-working families, like sky-high health care costs and premiums, better trade deals with our friends around the world, and real border security at home that confronts the crisis at our southern border.

“In addition to solving these problems, Congress must push for accountability with the bad apples in our intelligence agencies. There are alarming indications of FISA Court abuses within the FBI, as well a number of serious allegations regarding the politically-motivated dossier that started this investigation, and the possibility that government agents unethically spied on the 2016 Trump campaign. Americans deserve answers to these alarming abuses of power, and accountability for any government official who abused their power in an attempt to overturn the results of the 2016 election.”

As we and others reported, Scalise was shot by a deranged leftist as he and other Republicans were practicing for a charity baseball game.  Leftists, including Joy Reid and a number of Democrats, said Scalise deserved to get shot and hailed the shooter as a “hero.”  Moreover, some, like followers of Democrat Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, have advocated murdering Scalise.
