GOP Plans To Impeach Michigan Governor Amid More Covid Restrictions

Governor Gretchen Whitmer has announced a “three week pause” for more Covid Restrictions. The GOP plans to impeach the Michigan Governor, and they’re not joking around. She deliberately moved against an order from the Michigan Supreme Court. She has violated the rights of her citizens and conitnues to do so. She willfully put seniors at risk for Covid by putting postive patients in nursing homes (same as New York and New Jersey).

Here are some of the things the GOP are using as a basis for their plan to impeach her:

  • Ignored court orders.
  • Violated our Constitutional rights.
  • Completely ignored due process and the legislature.
  • Weaponized contact tracing databases to aid democrat campaigns.
  • Using our kids as political pawns and denied special needs students who depend on the services that occur during in-person classes. Caused the unnecessary death of thousands of our vulnerable elderly who died alone and scared in nursing homes.

As you can see by her own chart, high schools and colleges are to be closed, as are indoor activities such as restaurants (just in time for winter, folks, so you can only do takeout or outdoor dining. Brrrr ). Organized sports are closed except for professional sports (what in the world is this favor for pro-athletes?). Is total destruction of the Michigan economy the goal?

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Breitbart reported,

State Rep. Matt Maddock (R) announced via Parler that he is joining with Reps. Daire Rendon (R), Beau LaFave (R), Ryan Berman (R), and Shane Hernandez (R) on the effort. He said incoming legislators Ken Borton (R) and Steve Carra (R) are supportive, as well.

State Sens. Dan Lauwers (R) and Lana Theis (R) are also backing impeachment…

…In Michigan, the House of Representatives initiates impeachment and a majority vote is required. In the next legislative session, Republicans will have a 58-52 majority, according to Mlive.

Three representatives would be appointed to prosecute the impeachment case in the Senate. Two-thirds of senators must vote to convict the governor in order for her to be removed. Republicans hold a 22-16 majority in that chamber, Ballotpedia reported, so at least three Democrats would need to vote affirmatively for removal.

Translation: they have chosen an uphill battle. Whitmer has told the state Supreme Court to shove it on at least two occasions: one regarding the 77 year old barber, and the more recent Michigan Supreme Court decision that ruled her restrictions unconstituional. She flatly stated she had “other authority” to use to impose them. In effect, she has continued what she is doing with apparent impunity.

The GOP plans to impeach her, but will they be able to get it through the legislature? Doubtful at this point. And she is sincerely not the only governor using her power to control the people. She just happens to be one of the most unpopular ones.
