Goodbye free speech: Chelsea Handler calls for thought crime laws in U.S.

It used to be that liberals once supported free speech. Not so much any more. On Sunday, alleged comedian Chelsea Handler actually took to Twitter to advocate for thought crime laws in the United States.
“2 Chinese guys were arrested in Berlin for making nazi salutes. Wouldn’t it be nice 2 have laws here for people who think racism is funny?” she wrote on the social media platform.

The Daily Caller’s Amber Randall noted:
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
Handler was presumably referring to two Chinese tourists who were arrested after taking pictures of themselves making the Nazi salute by Germany’s parliament building, the Reichstag. They were charged Saturday and face either a fine or a prison sentence of up to three years.
NPR further said:
Hate speech and symbols are largely verboten today in Germany. The Nazis, who ruled between 1933 and 1945, used such methods to help whip up support, allowing millions of Jews and other minorities to be systemically slaughtered.
After World War II, the Nazi party was banned and strict rules against hate speech and symbols were designed to protect vulnerable people.
On Saturday, the Chinese men were charged under Germany’s criminal code prohibiting the “use of symbols of unconstitutional organizations,” including “flags, insignia, uniforms, slogans and forms of greeting.”
Breaking the law is punishable by fine or up to three years in prison.
Naturally, Handler would like to see the same kind of thing here in the U.S. despite the First Amendment.
Twitter users weren’t amused…

Sounds great in theory but that's a slippery slope. Sad that you don't understand that.

No, it doesn’t sound great in theory.
Are you saying we should have thought police????
— Mitch All Together (@MyBrainGoesPop) August 7, 2017
Give that man a gold star. Yes, it does appear that’s exactly what she’s calling for.
Another accused Handler of hypocrisy:
So racist jokes are only funny when you make them? Everyone else should be arrested. pic.twitter.com/7nxLS5h1wV

Hmmm…
A lot more of my family would be alive today if the problem w/ Nazis was simply that they thought racism was funny. https://t.co/4FDCGUislo

Typical liberal doublespeak. They demand that we are tolerant. But they are not tolerant of our opinions.
— Lobo Fxing Deplorable Gunz (@GunzLobo) August 7, 2017
True. Liberals are terrific at claiming to be tolerant, but when push comes to shove, they’re often the most intolerant of any other opinion.
If we got rid of first amendment protections for jokes someone found offensive, how much time would you spend in jail.

So when are you turning yourself in? pic.twitter.com/9OiICjHgzf

Good question.
One person asked Handler a very good question:

One person responded:

Sadly, that seems to be more true than most realize.
A post at Dennis Michael Lynch’s website adds:
For someone who makes a living saying edgy things under the security blanket of humor, her take is a scorching one. Five minutes of thought would have swayed her away from sending it out, as fans immediately responded saying she should “rethink her stance.”
Media analyst Mark Dice shredded Handler as only he can:
Indeed, as Dice points out, liberalism is destroying America…
