By 11 p.m. on Election Night, the GOP was on track to winning control of the U.S. Senate by a single seat, and looked on track to take control of the House of Representatives by at least 20 seats when it is all said and done.
However, the rumored “red wave” did not materialize. Many of the early contests that so many assumed would hew toward the GOP simply did not happen.
Virginia is a typical example. There were three Virginia races for the House of Representatives that were said to be signs of that “wave” election should they all have gone to the GOP. However, only one of them went to the GOP, so, no “wave” there.
Republican Jen Kiggans did win in Virginia’s 2nd Dist., but leftists Spanberger (7th Dist.) and Wexton (10the Dist.) both won, ending hopes that these latter two seats would be turned red.
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
Political analysts said if two or all three of those seats went red, it would be a big night for the GOP.
Sadly, it seems that the GOP wave receded to a swell, not a wave.
But don’t feel too let down, Republicans. Control is still control even if it is by less than we thought.
I am guessing that Herschel Walker will barely claw out a win in Georgia. But if he doesn’t, we won’t know for sure what the balance in the senate will be because Georgia will have to head to a runoff election. That means we won’t know what the final balance will be for months!
Of course, the bright and shining spot for the GOP this election was Florida.
It was such a wipeout for Florida Democrats that it is more like an extinction event.
The GOP has super majorities in both houses and hold every single statewide office. In fact, the Florida GOP actually ADDED four seats to their House majority.
So, the GOP is still on the rise across the nation.
Joe Biden’s agenda has failed to help Democrats get any real traction at all.
