Germany: Government warns citizens to stockpile in case of ‘militant attacks’
The last time Germany warned its citizens to stockpile supplies, Herr Hitler was hunkered down in his Führerbunker and barbarians were at the gates.
Fast forward 71 years. Adolf may be long gone, but the enemy is already through the gates. But unlike the closing days of World War II, this time the barbarians were invited in.
As noted by Breitbart.com, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung newspaper is reporting that the Ministry of the Interior in Berlin is telling the German people to “stockpile food and water in case of an attack or catastrophe.”
“The population will be obliged to hold an individual supply of food for ten days,” the newspaper quoted the government’s “Concept for Civil Defence” – which has been prepared by the Interior Ministry – as saying.
All this comes on the heels of Germany’s Defence Minister, Ursula von der Leyen, stating earlier this month that the nation is in the “crosshairs of terrorism.” Madame Minister is also pressing forward with “plans for the military to train more closely with police in preparing for potential large-scale militant attacks.”
While the 69-page report doesn’t foresee any external attacks aimed at sovereign German soil, “the precautionary measures demand that people ‘prepare appropriately for a development that could threaten our existence and cannot be categorically ruled out in the future,’” the Frankfurt newspaper also cited.
