Fascist NYC councilman brags about ‘chasing NRA members underground,’ gets hammered

Apparently, New York City Councilman Justin Brannan isn’t familiar with the Constitution and the First Amendment right of free speech and free assembly. Either that, or he just doesn’t think those rights extend to those with whom he disagrees, just like a good fascist. On Thursday, Brannan bragged on Twitter about “chasing NRA members underground” and got his clock cleaned.
“Looks like we’ve successfully chased the @NRA underground in #Brooklyn. Now they’ve gotta sneak around behind our backs and book catering halls under fake names just to have a meeting. Sounds about right,” he tweeted.

According to the Brooklyn Reporter article Brannan referenced:
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
This paper has learned exclusively that the Brooklyn Friends of the NRA, whose event featuring a gun auction was booted from two Brooklyn venues over the past couple of months after local residents and elected officials expressed strong objections, will be holding their dinner at the Dyker Heights Knights of Columbus, at 86th Street and 13th Avenue, tonight, beginning at 6 p.m.
It’s unclear if the gun rally is still a part of the evening’s activities. No information about the invite-only event was available online on the group’s Facebook page or elsewhere, based on a Google search.
A source reported a strong police presence outside, as well.
Earlier this year, two prominent Brooklyn venues — Gargiulo’s in Coney Island and the Grand Prospect Hall in Park Slope — received pushback after agreeing to host the dinner, originally slated for April 12, before both eventually backed out.
“Pushback,” which usually means the typical threats and hate leftists use to get their way.
And it appears Brannan was part of that effort.
“We are disappointed to learn in the 11th hour of an NRA fundraiser in Dyker Heights, especially after our neighbors in Coney Island and South Slope expressed their deep displeasure with having this benefit take place in their communities,” Brannan said in a joint statement with Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams. “The lack of notice as to its rescheduling indicates a desire to fly under the radar and avoid the scrutiny of a rightly concerned public. The NRA does not value the safety and security of our neighborhoods, putting deadly assault weapons above innocent lives; it is no friend of Brooklyn. Our protest of the NRA and their campaign of chaos continues.”
Ross Barkan, a local Democrat Party candidate for state Senate, joined the hatefest.
“The NRA is a disgraceful organization,” he said. “After every mass shooting, the NRA proves it cares more about deadly assault weapons than human lives. It is, in every way, morally bankrupt. For the NRA to come to Brooklyn, to the place I call home, is unconscionable.”
“The NRA has absolutely no place in Brooklyn. They do not believe in common-sense gun laws. They do not believe in keeping our neighborhood safe and the fact that they have to sneak around our community just to hold a fundraiser shows how wrong they know they are and how unwelcome they are in our community,” added Andrew Gounardes, another Democrat running for the state Senate.
Translation: Only those with whom we agree are allowed to engage in their rights under the Constitution.
Twitter had a field day.
They are your fellow citizens who hold different political views from you. Why would you want to chase them underground? Should pro life groups be chased underground?

The “why” is easy. These are tyrannical leftists, driven by hatred.
Kinda like Christians going underground in order to practice their religion in China. You have any plans to dock the social credit scores of @NRA members, Comr.. er, Councilman? https://t.co/Vd5DmSH74D

As Twitchy noted, don’t give this guy any ideas…

It certainly seems like that’s the case.

Twitchy also noted that “one has to wonder if he is at all familiar with how similar his actions are to a certain group of fascists whose favorite color of shirt to wear was brown.”
One Twitter user who claimed to be at the event called Brannan out for his fake news:

Maybe Brannan was operating under the constitution of the former Soviet Union. That’s just speculation on our part, but it would certainly seem to fit.

We agree, but there are a number of people who keep electing these freedom-hating clowns into office.
One person asked:
So you hate the @NRA so much. Would you refuse to help a constituent who held an @NRA membership if they came into your office?
— Christine Sisto (@ChristineSisto) April 27, 2018
We’re willing to bet that he probably would.
Aaron Worthing, a D.C.-area attorney and blogger told Brannan:
Congratulations. You’ve exposed yourself to First Amendment lawsuits, petty fascist https://t.co/UMqwuj3Cdf
— (((Aaron “Worthing” Walker))) (@AaronWorthing) April 27, 2018
Now that’s a lawsuit we’d like to see…
According to the Reporter, neither the NRA nor the Knights of Columbus had responded to a request for comment.
Nevertheless, Brannan has done us all a favor by exposing the radical left as tyrants who seek to strip certain Americans of their Constitutional rights.
This, by the way, IS the modern fascist left. Let that sink in.
