Far-left billionaire Tom Steyer suggests nuclear war as ‘correction’ for Trump, backpedals

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Tom Steyer, the far-left billionaire bankrolling efforts to impeach Donald Trump, told Tim Dickinson that a nuclear war might be necessary as a quick correction for the Trump administration.

“I remember 2006,” Steyer said when asked about Pelosi’s decision to take the impeachment of George W. Bush off the table. “What happened is that George W. Bush, he put us in two disastrous wars and we were headed toward the biggest financial disaster since the Great Depression. So if the answer is that we need those three things to happen for a course correction, I’d prefer to move a little quicker. How about that? But I take your point. Maybe we can have, like, a nuclear war and then we get a real course correction.”

“Wow – that’s…sobering,” Dickinson said, prompting Steyer to walk back his remark a bit.

“We’re trying to do what’s right,” Steyer said. “And 2006/2008 did not happen because George W. Bush didn’t get impeached, is what I’m saying. I should be a little bit more tempered: I take back that remark about nuclear war. The correction happened because the United States got screwed, and American citizens lost their houses and American citizens lost their lives – and, by the way, there was a terrible climate-related crisis, New Orleans, that the president fumbled. So that course correction was based on the suffering of American citizens. We’re trying to act expeditiously to avoid the suffering of American citizens.”

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

As Mediaite noted, the rest of the interview, which can be seen here, focused on questions of whether Trump’s impeachment is feasible, and whether the far-left billionaire has any political ambitions of his own.

Reaction on Twitter was pretty much what one might expect:

Gee, ya think?

That does seem to be a bit much…

It wasn’t that long ago that Steyer compared Trump to Hitler in an impeachment event Twitchy said “was full of all sorts of lovely little nuggets of stupid…”

“[Trump] really is an incredibly skillful and talented communicator. He really is, which Hitler was, too,” Steyer said. “I think the reason people push back against the Hitler comparison, regardless of any similarities, is Hitler ended up killing millions and millions of people, and Mr. Trump has shown a disregard for our law, he breaks the law … But he hasn’t killed millions of people.”

This, by the way, perfectly illustrates the insanity of the modern left and proves my years-old assertion that liberalism, at its core, is an ideology of rage and hate.

It also proves the notion that deep down, liberals would rather see hundreds of millions dead in a nuclear war than to see Trump succeed.
