Did a US Drone Strike Take Out a Senior Al Qaeda Leader? Or an Innocent Father of 10?

The Biden administration may have egg on their faces again

Lotfi Hassan Misto, 56, was struck by a Hellfire Missile on May 3 in Syria. The Biden administration was quick to credit the strike as taking out a “senior Al Qaeda leader.” Now they are walking back that claim and admitting the drone strike may have missed its original intended target. Did it hit an impoverished father of 10 instead?

The Pentagon has been tight lipped about the strike and has not released any information about who their target was, if the target escaped, and what information they had indicating that Misto was an al-Qaeda terrorist.

“Centcom takes all such allegations seriously and is investigating to determine whether or not the action may have unintentionally resulted in harm to civilians,” said Michael Lawhorn, a spokesman for Central Command. Daily Wire

The Pentagon was quick to say he may not have been the intended target, but they were sure he was Al-Qaeda. Didn’t they say that when a drone strike took out an entire civilian family and left a neighborhood in ruins in August of 2021? That victim turned out to be an aid worker that had worked with the US. He died along with his family in the drone strike. Is this another deadly administration embarrassment?

Who was Lotfi Hassan Misto?

The US military has backtracked on claims it killed a top al-Qaeda boss during a drone strike in Syria after the family of the man killed by the missile said he had no links to the terrorist group.

Lotfi Hassan Misto, 56, was killed on May 3, and has now been identified as the man killed in the US drone strike, reportedly while tending to livestock.  The father-of-ten was reportedly a bricklayer who lived in Qorqanya – not the terrorist leader the US claimed he was.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) oversaw the operation, and said in a statement after the attack that it had carried out a strike which was “targeting a senior al-Qaeda leader”. Express UK

The whole operation unraveled when the Washington Post spoke with Misto’s relatives who stated he had nothing whatever to do with either the al-Nusra Front or the Islamic State. The Syrian Civil Defense Group White Helmets found him dead along with 3 of his sheep. The family called the action an “injustice” and an “aggression.”

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Was the military just incompetent in this situation? We always have to remember that the Muslim Quran allows them to lie whenever dealing with unbelievers (taqqiya). There is an investigation, but whether or not Mr. Misto was actually al-Qaeda or some other terrorist group is seriously up in the air at this point. His family says he was not. The US military is wearing some serious egg on their face if the family is right.
