Dems Just Won’t Give Up; Majority Believes Russian Meddling Beat Hillary

Six years after her stunning defeat in the 2016 presidential race, nearly three-fourths of Democrats cling to the notion that Russian interference in the election cost Hillary Clinton the chance to become the first female president, according to a new Rasmussen survey.

Never mind that earlier this year, the Federal Election Commission fined Clinton’s campaign and the Democratic National Committee “for not properly disclosing the money they spent on controversial opposition research that led to the infamous Trump-Russia dossier,” according to CNN.

Rasmussen is reporting “72%) of Democrats believe it’s likely the 2016 election outcome was changed by Russian interference, but that opinion is shared by only 30% of Republicans and 39% of voters not affiliated with either major party.”

Clinton has blamed everyone but herself for her loss to Donald Trump, a defeat that even left some news anchors in tears that night in November 2016. Some in the media are still talking about the Clinton-Trump debacle, and the Washington Post ran an opinion piece stirring up the mess anew. WaPo reader comments seem divided between Clinton faithful and Trump followers.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Meanwhile, according to Rasmussen, “47% of Likely U.S. Voters believe it is likely that Russian interference changed the outcome of the 2016 presidential election, including 26% who say it’s Very Likely. Forty-six percent (46%) don’t think it’s likely Russian interference changed the 2016 election, including 32% who say it is Not at All Likely.”

The survey also revealed “59% of voters think it’s likely Russia will try to interfere in this year’s congressional midterm elections, including 38% who say such interference is Very Likely. Thirty-four percent (34%) don’t believe Russian interference in the midterm elections is likely, including 16% who say it is Not at All Likely.”

Through it all, special counsel John Durham’s investigation has been chugging along, much to the dismay of Clinton believers who would like this to go away, which isn’t likely. As reported by Fox News Friday, former Attorney General Bill Barr said Durham “has made significant headway in investigating the origins of the Trump-Russia probe.”

Fox said Barr believes “that if there is a case to be brought against any further defendants in the matter, Durham is one who is not reticent to bring it.”

“I think the question all along … has been that this was a campaign-dirty-trick to get the government to investigate allegations — scurrilous allegations — about Donald Trump and then leak that right before the election,” Barr told “The Story,” as reported by Fox News.
