Democrats Virtue Signaling Misfire

On Monday, Democrats took a knee for 8 minutes 46 seconds at Emancipation Hall to do some serious virtue signaling to “honor African Americans.” They decided to kneel for the same amount of time that George Floyd was under the knee of Derek Chauvin. Each of them were wearing a colorful Kente cloth with a specific pattern to honor the African heritage (or something, don’t think they had a clue what the cloth meant). But some black Twitter users were offended. The cloth has a special meaning to a specific tribe of people from Ghana. Democrats stole it.

“Excuse me, dear Democrats. In your tokenism, you didn’t wait to find out that this thing that you’re hanging around your neck is not just some African uniform — it’s actually the kente material. The kente belongs to the Ghanaian people, mainly the Ashanti tribe…Excuse me, Democrats. Don’t treat Africans like we’re children. These fabrics and these colorful things that we have within our culture and tradition, they all mean something to us. I know you look at us and you say, ‘Oh, Africans are so cute in all of your colorful dresses.’ Well, some of those dresses and patterns and colors and fabrics actually do mean something to us.” Author Obianuju Ekeocha

I had to say something about the American politicians shameless and ignorantly using the Kente fabric as a prop in their virtue signaling.

“There is more Kente fabric in this picture than at a Ghanaian traditional wedding.”

I’m sure?someone told them that fabric represents black people but in truth a Nigerian like me cannot lay claim to this significant fabric which is very much a part of Ghanaian identity.

Were they pandering to the African American community? That’s exactly what they were doing. Several members of that community knelt with them, but why someone didn’t say something is crazy.

Some of the other comments were:

“Remember the outrage over cultural appropriation with Halloween costumes- yet they all wear kente cloth.”

“So early to be that stoned.”

“That was way too hard for way too many of them.”

(Yes it was way too hard- term limits. The only answer to Pelosi’s little spikey heels).

At any rate, Jerry Nadler is standing in the video – did he bag the kneeling jazz, as he knew he’d probably need a crane to get up again? But leave it to nasty Nancy – she had difficulty standing after kneeling for so long.

“If anyone can’t understand why Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, and them dressed up like they’re trying to sneak into Wakanda is disrespectful and appropriative you have a great deal to learn.” Frederick Joseph (Wakanda, the fictional land where Marvel’s Black Panther is set).

Democrats are a fictional movie all by themselves.
