House Democrats are having a get-together with members of the radical Dar Al-Hijrah Islamic Center in Falls Church, Virginia, the Washington Free Beacon reported Friday. Some of you may be familiar with that mosque. The Islamic radical imam, Anwar al-Awlaki used the mosque to recruit Muslims for terrorism. al-Awlaki was killed by a US drone on orders from Barack Obama, even though he was an American citizen. He was considered that dangerous.
The question is, why this particular mosque. The mosque has a rich history of producing or sheltering terrorists as far back as its inception in 1982. The first imam was Mohammed al-Hanooti. He was an unindicted co conspirator in the first World Trade Center bombing.
He was followed by Anwar al-Awlaki. al-Awlaki has been described as a recruiter for terrorists and had ties to many who murdered Americans right here on our very soil. He was the imam for three of the 9/11 terrorists who killed a total of 2996 and wounded over 6,000 more. He was an adviser to Nidal Hasan, the Ft Hood shooter who killed thirteen and wounded more than thirty others. He was also advising Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab while he was in hiding. Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab is more commonly known as the “Underwear Bomber.” He tried to bring down Flight 253, a Northwest plane on Christmas day in 2009. The attempt failed when he suffered from being unable to create an explosion in his underwear.
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
al-Awlaki was followed by Johari Abdul-Malik. Abdul-Malik was the imam to Ahmed Omar Abu Ali, who plotted with Al Qaeda to assassinate George W. Bush. Malik also defended Nidal Hasan, claiming he didn’t shoot anyone but was made the scapegoat for the US military.
I could continue this, but I think you have the general idea. Even if you can understand the desire to reach out to Muslims, you have to wonder why they would choose this particular mosque. Democrats who have agreed to come pray at the mosque include:
Reps. Don Beyer of Virginia, Keith Ellison of Minnesota, Joe Crowley of New York, District of Columbia Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton, Rep. Betty McCollum Democrat of Minnesota and a handful of unnamed Democratic legislators from Virginia.
Ellison and Crowley are meeting at mosques in their district on that day.
The day of prayer was planned before the San Bernardino terror attack, but Democrats plan on following through anyway. I just find it funny that the same party that criticized people for sending prayers to the victims and their families in San Bernardino would find it necessary to pray at a radical Islamic mosque.
