Bernie Sanders’ single-payer health bill will apparently cover the 11 or 12 million illegal aliens in the country. Bernie calls it the “Medicare For All Act of 2017.” It’s a brilliant plan. You take Medicaid that’s going bankrupt and you add a couple of hundred million people to it. Illegal aliens would get comprehensive medical as well as dental for free. But not to the taxpayers.
If the bill were to pass, the entire private health insurance industry would disappear as well as the jobs of those who work for insurance companies. The reimbursement rate for Medicare is low and a large number of doctors have quit accepting patients that have their coverage.
Oh, yes, that’s right, Bernie wants to cut the profits out of healthcare. You know, those nasty profit centers that buy the C-Scan machines and the latest in radiology and operating rooms. Those profit centers are what allows American patients to have their tests done within a day or two as opposed to three or four months under the Canadian and British single payer plans.

“IN GENERAL.—Every individual who is a resident of the United States is entitled to benefits for health care services under this Act. The Secretary shall promulgate a rule that provides criteria for determining residency for eligibility purposes under this Act,” the bill reads.
The language suggests that the roughly 11 million illegal immigrants who currently reside in the U.S. will be eligible to receive extensive medical and dental coverage at no personal expense.
If passed, the legislation would effectively eliminate the private insurance market by instituting the federal government as the sole insurance purchaser. The bill includes a four-year rollout period in which coverage would gradually expand from adults aged 55 and older and children, to middle aged and young adult residents.
The far, far left of the Democrat party is lining up behind Bernie’s bill. That includes Democrat Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand of New York, Cory Booker of New Jersey, Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, Kamala Harris of California and Jeff Merkley of Oregon, who are all co-sponsors of the bill.
Now, here’s the kicker. Bernie says that the amount that people would save on premiums, deductibles and copays would offset the huge tax increases needed to fund the bill. Excuse me, but aren’t the high premiums, copays and deductibles the reason Obamacare is such a flop? And of course, like all bills presented by the Democrats, the costs are always much higher and the benefits are much lower.
Democratic Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand of New York, Cory Booker of New Jersey, Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, Kamala Harris of California and Jeff Merkley of Oregon have all signed on as co-sponsors to Sanders’ legislation. The group represents a collection of the party’s most recognizable and politically well-positioned figures, all of whom are in the running for the party’s 2020 presidential nomination.
While it it remains unclear exactly how the government would finance the extensive social welfare program, Sanders has repeatedly argued that the savings derived from eliminating out of pocket health care expenses will offset any tax increase required to fund the program.
