Dem. Charlie Rangel: No guns for Americans, but I need, deserve protection

According to Rep. Charlie Rangel, D-N.Y., Americans shouldn’t have guns.  But when it comes to his own protection, that’s different.

Rangel was asked if his own constituents in Harlem should be able to get concealed carry permits.  His answer speaks volumes.

“I wouldn’t want them to have it. I know what you’re trying to say. Corruption is corruption, and it’s bad,” he said.

“Law-abiding citizens just shouldn’t have to carry a gun. You’re not gonna push me in that direction,” he added, standing just five feet from a Capitol Police officer, the Daily Caller said.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

But he had a different point of view when it was observed that he and other members of Congress are protected by armed U.S. Capitol Police officers.

“Well that’s a little different,” he said.  “I think we deserve–I think we need to be protected down here.”

So guns are okay when it comes to protecting him, but to hell with his constituents.

Here’s audio of his comments, courtesy of the Daily Caller:

Kerry Picket explains:

Rangel made this distinction when he spoke to The Daily Caller Tuesday night about New York Police Department’s gun permitting bribery scandal.

According to reports, four NYPD officials were arrested Monday for accepting trips, expensive gifts and prostitutes from two Brooklyn men in exchange for police escorts, privileged access and gun licenses, federal prosecutors charged.

When asked by The Daily Caller his thoughts on the difficulty of getting a concealed carry permit in New York City and how rare it is for such permits to be issued by the NYPD, Rangel replied, “I’m glad to hear you say that very few people get it.”

Gee — a scandal in a city run by Democrats who not only want to take our guns and leave us defenseless, but want to strip us of due process as well.

This is why every single Democrat in America needs to be soundly defeated…
