Washington DC Mayor Bowser asked for the second time for the National Guard to assist with buses of illegal migrants sent to her doorstep. And for the second time the Pentagon said NO. The paltry amount of illegals taken to DC (about 7,000 so far) is nothing compared to the hundreds of thousands that have come through the Southern border. But the whining continues both in DC and in New York City (900).
The point of sending busloads of migrants to both blue cities was to get their attention to the problem of open borders. It got their attention, and kicked the whining into high gear.
DC Mayor Bowser asked first on August 4, and was denied. She asked again on August 11 and still was denied. Why? The Pentagon said it would impact readiness.
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
Defense Department executive secretary Kelly Bulliner Holly wrote in a letter to Bowser on Monday that the D.C. National Guard is not trained to assist migrants and activation would lead to “diminished readiness” for the troops.
“The DCNG has no specific experience in or training for this kind of mission or unique skills for providing facility management, feeding, sanitation or ground support,” Holly wrote in the letter, which was reviewed by Fox News.
“Approval of this request would also result in a substantial readiness impact to the DCNG,” Holly continued. “Devoting the personnel or the facility for such an extended mission would force the cancellation or disruption of military training.” Fox
The deployment of National Guard troops to DC after the January 6 riot was a royal debacle. Feeding them was a disaster with half-raw food or lack of enough nutritious food. They had to sleep in a cold garage at one point after they were thrown out of the Capitol by the powers that be. They were eventually let back in, but it caused a huge dust-up in Congress. That wasn’t even having to deal with immigrants who don’t all speak English.
As far as readiness goes, the United States is facing tensions across the globe. China is ramping up its military exercises around Taiwan. We are sending military equipment to Ukraine at a high rate, making Russia angry. There are tensions across the IndoPacific as well as the Middle East with the American-haters in Iran. Who knows where the next one will strike or when? DC Mayor Bowser asked and was denied. That’s why.
Maybe these Mayors should start lobbying Democrats to stop their open borders policy.
