The DC Armed Camp could remain until Fall of 2021, according to a report in Fox5dc. The National Guard may have to remain deployed to our nation’s Capitol at least until Fall. Why? Because the Democrats are fearful that the people of the nation will overrun them an oust them? It’s an idea, (albeit a bad one) but would never work that way. They also seem to thrive on the idea that razor wire and fences would save them.
On Thursday night during a virtual town hall, Delagate [sic] Eleanor Holmes Norton was asked by DC residents how long the National Guard will stay in DC and how long fencing will stay put, but no straight answers were given from speakers.
FOX 5 reached out to D.C. National Guard for further comment and received the following statement:“The National Guard is conducting prudent planning for the eventual end of the security mission and the return of its Soldiers and Airmen to their home stations.”

Various Security agencies are set to meet Feb 17 on this issue. An email from the Biden Administration’s Assistant Secretary for Homeland Security and Global Defense to the National Guard, Robert Salesses stated:
If it’s not possible to sustain at the current level with National Guard personnel, we need to establish the number of National Guard personnel (DCNG and out-of-state) we can sustain for an extended period – at least through Fall 2021 – and understand additional options for providing Department of Defense support, to include use of reserve personnel, as well as active component.

There are approximately 6,000 National Guard troops still in DC, and 5,000 will remain so until Mid-March. At least that was what they reported previously. The cost of keeping them there is estimated to be close to $500 million. The National Guard is made up of “citizen soldiers” who have real jobs outside of the military. Democrats don’t care about that, they just want to save themselves from the Trump supporters, whom they have labelled as “domestic terrorists.”
(Democrat) Delegate Norton stated she would “prefer” a continuing National Guard presence and fencing be permanent:
Given what we are seeing or what the FBI and others are seeing in the chatter, I think that having human beings here as opposed to the proposal to put up permanent fencing is much to be desired.

I sit on the Intelligence Committee, but I’m aware of no specific, credible threat reporting—as distinguished from aspirational, uncoordinated bluster on the internet—that justifies this continued troop presence. Thus, I believe the rest of these soldiers should also go home to their families and civilian jobs.

Senator Cotton is correct. President Trump told the Capitol Police he would activate 10,000 troops if they needed them for the January 6th rally. They said no. Mayor Muriel Bowser requested National Guard troops before the rally on January 4th, but said they needed to be unarmed. The Sgt-at-arms and Capitol Police thought they could handle anything and were proven wrong. But keeping the DC armed camp is a sign of a Communist government, not an American one. Send the troops home.
