If you read any news reports today anywhere, you will find 99% COVID-19 updates. In point of fact, it’s difficult to find anything in the news that ISN’T related to the coronavirus. It’s a full-fledged COVID-19 disruption.
Note: The President himself may have been exposed to the virus. He has scheduled a press conference at 3 p.m. today.
Disruption in sports
How about those Utah Jazz? Two players tested positive for COVID-19, which lead to an avalanche of cancellations.
The NBA and NCAA have effectively shut down the season, and that includes March Madness. Ouch, that’s gonna leave a mark. What will people do if they can’t watch their favorite March basketball games?
Major League Baseball has ended training season for two weeks.
The NHL suspended their season “until it’s appropriate” to start it again. (Hopefully before the Stanley Cup playoffs.)
The Olympic Committee is thinking about what to do if the virus affects the Tokyo Summer Olympics. The games set for July 24 to Aug. 9, 2020 could be postponed, but the decision has not yet been made and probably will not be until May.
And those aren’t counting possible changes in soccer, horse racing, golf, XFL…etc. The full list of potential changes is here at CBSSports.
Disruption in recreation and family time
Disneyland and Universal Studios have closed their doors until the end of March (per The Hill). It is only the 4th time in history that the theme park has closed.
COVID-19 Disruption in travel plans
Let’s see, other COVID-19 updates include President Trump’s ban for travellers from parts of Europe (Breitbart). The European Union is upset that he “didn’t ask permission” to do that, but hey, it’s our country not theirs. One thing about this President they should have learned by now is that he doesn’t ask permission from anybody. The CDC and NIAID officials are praising the President’s actions to handle the spread of the virus.

COVID-19 Disruption in government
Then of course there are several lawmakers (Matt Gaetz, Ted Cruz, Lindsey Graham, etc) in self-quarantine over the possibility of the virus. Thank goodness for computers and telephones.
The Senate cancelled their recess next week to deal with issues that surround the coronavirus. The President was not happy with Pelosi’s version of the COVID-19 relief bill. So Senator McConnell said they will work through the recess.
“It’s not a way for them to get some of the goodies that they haven’t been able to get for the past 25 years.” President Trump.
Notwithstanding the scheduled state work period, the Senate will be in session next week. I am glad talks are ongoing between the Administration and Speaker Pelosi. I hope Congress can pass bipartisan legislation to continue combating the coronavirus and keep our economy strong.

Add to that mess, many Governors are restricting large crowds and meetings, which may mean our favorite concerts and activities. Maybe even movie theaters.
You should know that statistically, when major events cause people to stay home, domestic violence tends to go up. People tend to get cranky, more so than usual. Heads up!
