Constitutional Scholar Keith Olbermann: 2nd Amendment Doesn’t Authorize Gun Ownership (Video)
On Tuesday, former ESPN talking head and hatemonger extraordinaire Keith Olbermann demonstrated both his understanding of the English language and his ignorance of the Second Amendment when he posted a tweet claiming the Second Amendment doesn’t allow for the ownership of guns.
Seriously.
Because the language doesn’t include the word, “own.”
We’re not making this up, folks.
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

The amendment, which, by the way, Joe Biden tells us isn’t absolute, simply reads:
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed
Okay, so the amendment doesn’t have the word “own,” however, as many pointed out to Olbermann, the language states, “keep and bear,” which generally means… “own.” Not only “own,” but “use as necessary.”
Olbermann got dragged on Twitter, and rightfully so.

It specifically says "keep & bear" because owning a gun does not mean you get to keep it or bear it.

‘To keep’ to retain or have possesion of.
‘To bear’ to carry.Wow, not there.
Still – Own as a word is rooted in the old english c. 1200, ounen, ahnen, “to possess, have; rule, be in command of, have authority over;”
‘To Keep’ and ‘To Own’ both mean to possess
