Communist Cuban Newspaper Praises Bernie

The Miami Herald reported that Granma, the state-run Communist Cuban newspaper in Havana, praised Bernie Sanders on its front page after he praised Fidel Castro on 60 Minutes on Feb 23rd. Make no mistake, Bernie Sanders is a Communist, and his infatuation with the dead Cuban dictator is delusional.

Even a leftist Democrat noted that Sanders’ position is wrong:

Granma, the Communist Cuban newspaper reported,

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

US Senator Bernie Sanders, today one of the strongest candidates for the nomination of the Democratic Party for the November presidential elections, recognized the role of Cuba in sending doctors worldwide.

“It would be a mistake not to declare in Cuba that they have made some good advances in health care,” the 78-year-old politician admitted in an interview granted to the 60 Minutes program of the CBS network and broadcast this Sunday.

“They are sending doctors all over the world. They have made some progress in education, ” said the Vermont senator who aspires to face Republican Donald Trump in the November 3 presidential elections.

The Cuban-American community strongly disagreed with Sanders on those points.

The Panam Post noted:

But Castro did not give Cubans literacy. Cuba already had one of the highest highest literacy rates in Latin America by 1950, nearly a decade before Castro took power, according to United Nations data (statistics from UNESCO). In 2016, the Washington Post fact-checker Glenn Kessler debunked a politician’s claim that Castro’s rule significantly improved Cuban healthcare and education.

In today’s Cuba, children are taught by poorly paid teachers in dilapidated schools. Cuba has made less educational progress than most Latin American countries over the last 60 years.

Contrary to Sanders’ claim that Castro “gave” Cubans healthcare, they already had access to healthcare before he seized power. Doctors frequently provided free healthcare to those who couldn’t afford it.

Cuba was a thriving modern nation prior to the Castro “revolution.” It is now a sad relic of a social system that has failed everywhere it was attempted.  Unless you view extreme repression as a “success.” And it does somewhat explain the violent nature of some of the Bernie Sanders supporters.

The entire field of current Democratic contenders are massively deluded — from Bernie’s Communist leanings all the way through “Medicare for All” and other excessively expensive socialist programs that would bankrupt our nation, to total gun control.
