Cities Eye Lawsuits Against Cali Gov for Closing Orange County Beaches

Cali Gov Gavin Newsom closed all Orange County beaches when he saw pictures of people flocking to the beach and in his view, not “social distancing.” But the cities of Huntington Beach and Dana Point voted on Thursday to take legal action against the Governor. They will seek an injunction against his order.

“We want you to see sunsets. We want you to enjoy activities outdoors.  What they don’t want is people congregating outside in large groups.” Newsom to SFGate.

If that were true, why were CHP officers dispatched to cite people sitting in their cars watching the sunset not long ago? Inconsistent at best, folks.

The Orange County beaches were closed after the Governor saw photos of people crowded onto the sand. Huntington Beach officials say the photos were misleading. At first he said he was closing ALL California beaches, then only the Orange County ones.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Lyn Semata, the Mayor of Huntington Beach, said that they had invested a considerable expense to make sure people had safe access to the beaches for exercise and mental health during the pandemic.

“Our experience here locally has been that most people are being responsible and complying with social distancing, and given that Orange County has among the lowest per capita COVID-19 death rates in California, the state’s action today seems to prioritize politics over data.” Lyn Semata

The inconsistencies appear to be politically motivated, and the efforts of someone who does not want to give up the power he’s found.

“The goalposts keep moving with this governor. At the beginning of this crisis, many of us were complimentary of his willingness to work with our president but in the last couple of weeks, he’s really gone in the opposite direction.” Harmeet Dhillon, the California Republican Party vice chairwoman to Laura Ingraham.

According to research, sunlight, along with high temperatures, kills the Chinese virus. (WBCK). Locking people off from the Orange County beaches was not a wise choice. But then, Governors who insist on controlling the populace never make wise decisions. A Japanese study said that people were 18.7 times more likely to contract COVID-19 indoors than outdoors. It’s the indoor environments that lead to rapid contraction of the disease – as the numbers at nursing homes and VA facilities clearly show.

“The odds that a primary case transmitted COVID-19 in a closed environment was 18.7 times greater compared to an open-air environment (95% confidence interval [CI]: 6.0, 57.9). Conclusions: It is plausible that closed environments contribute to secondary transmission of COVID-19 and promote superspreading events. Our findings are also consistent with the declining incidence of COVID-19 cases in China, as gathering in closed environments was prohibited in the wake of the rapid spread of the disease.”

So here we have California’s Governor rigidly locking down people from being able to soak up the sun and heat from the Orange County beaches. Huntington Beach had to close their access today to the city’s bike paths, boat ramps, restrooms, parking lots, and associated recreational amenities. The cities of Huntington Beach (whose Mayor is a Republican, by the way)and Dana Point are in Southern California.

Modoc County in Northern California planned to reopon on Friday in defiance of the Governor’s orders.

The Humboldt County Sheriff refused to enforce the Governor’s orders.

If you want people to rebel, keep closing parks, beaches, and other recreational activites in the midst of locking them inside and forcing them away from other people. The very place where people SHOULD be during this pandemic is the place where the Cali Gov doesn’t want them to be.
