Christina Lopez Awarded $4.9M for Settlement After Son Shot by Police; Arrested for Buying Guns to Give to Other Son’s Gang Friends.

Christina Lopez was awarded $4.9 Million from the city of Fresno in April because her 16 year old son, Isiah Murrietta-Golding, was shot by police back in 2017. Now she is charged with 22 counts of gun trafficking after allegedly purchasing guns for her 14 year old son to give to gang members. She made her first appearance today. She is one of 14 people arrested in connection with the murder of a gang member.

She has continued now to take the money from her settlement that she received from the city of Fresno to buy a home where she lives in addition to spending thousands of dollars on guns that she has in turn given to her 14-year-old son.

So Lopez bought a house. Normal. Her attorney says she bought the house to get her children away from gang activity so they wouldn’t get into trouble. He is waiting to see the evidence against her because he says giving guns to gang members is ”out of character for her.”

According to ABC Fresno, part of that evidence is wiretap recordings of conversations with Jessie Aguilar, a gang shot-caller who has been in prison since 2014. He allegedly recruited Juan Alfredo Venegas to kill a gang member connected to another murder and Venegas recruited Lopez’s 14 year old son to help. When one of them went to Calwa Park, police intercepted them before another murder took place. The evidence was found on a cell phone inside the vehicle they traveled in to the park.

Especially troublesome, Aguilar was directing teenagers belonging to the gang to commit murders.

Smittcamp laid it all at the feet of Gov Gavin Newsom over his policy of letting prisoners go and closing the facilities.

His solution to COVID protection and prevention is letting them out of prison with no regard for their victims and the communities they will return to terrorize.

Meanwhile, Christina Lopez faces charges of conspiracy to provide firearms to a minor for the benefit of a street gang, child endangerment, and conspiracy to provide a firearm to a gang member.
