China Bans ‘Sissy Men’ From TV To Promote More Masculine Role Models

The Communist Chinese government is cracking down on things that it believes are antithetical to a strong, Chinese culture. One of those things is “sissy men.”

The Chinese government has banned effeminate men from television and demands more masculine role models as part of their push to a “healthier society.”

It was reported just a few days ago that the CCP is also limiting the amount of time that kids can spend playing online video games to 3 hours a week and only on weekends.

Both moves are part of President Xi Jinping’s call for a “national rejuvenation” with tighter communist control over all aspects of citizens’ lives — business, education, culture, and religion. It’s also part of his pushback on capitalism and fame.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

The government banned effeminate men on TV and told broadcasters on Thursday to promote ‘revolutionary culture,’ broadening a campaign to tighten control over business and society and enforce official morality.

Companies and the public are under increasing pressure to align with its vision for a more powerful China and healthier society.

The push for more masculine role models is a repudiation of the popularity of many Korean and Japanese celebrities whose look can be charitably described as “androgenous” but is perhaps more accurately described in many cases as “effeminate.” The appeal of K-Pop ushered in an entire market for make-up for men in South Korea.

Chinese broadcasters must “resolutely put an end to sissy men and other abnormal esthetics” and are encouraged to instead “vigorously promote excellent Chinese traditional culture, revolutionary culture and advanced socialist culture.”

They used an insulting slang term for effeminate men – ‘niang pao,’ or literally, ‘girlie guns.’

That reflects official concern that Chinese pop stars, influenced by the sleek, girlish look of some South Korean and Japanese singers and actors, are failing to encourage China’s young men to be masculine enough.

In North America, we seem to be doing the exact opposite by insisting that traditional masculinity is “toxic.”

Sad, isn’t it?

While promoting more masculine role models in an era where masculinity is now labeled “toxic” is a good thing, this top-down, heavy-handed approach by the CCP is antithetical to the concept of individual liberty and it leads to very ugly things.

While Xi Jinping is fighting the toxic “fame” culture by erasing a popular billionaire actress from history for her sin of being “unpatriotic” by hiring someone Taiwanese, he’s also promoting himself — in churches.
