CDC: Racism, homophobia in southern states causing rise of HIV

On Saturday, the Daily Caller reported that a report recently issued by the Centers for Disease Control indicates that “racism” and “homophobia” among southerners may be causing HIV rates in the South to be disproportionately high among African-Americans and homosexuals.
Southern states, the report says, have 37 percent of the U.S. population, but also has 44 percent of all HIV infected people living in America. Meanwhile, gay men and African-Americans have the lion’s share of the virus.
The Daily Caller adds:
“African Americans are severely affected by HIV in the South, accounting for 54 percent of new HIV diagnoses in 2014,” the brief notes.

The majority of those diagnoses were among black gay men, the CDC reports: “Black gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (MSM) face an especially heavy burden, accounting for 59 percent of all HIV diagnoses among African Americans in the South.”
Peter Hasson observed that the 2010 Census shows that 55 percent of African-Americans live in the South.
“Issues such as homophobia and transphobia, racism, and general discomfort with public discussion of sexuality may be more widespread in the South and can lead to higher levels of stigma,” the CDC report adds. Moreover, the CDC brief says that increased levels of stigma “may limit people’s willingness to seek HIV testing, care, or prevention services.”
But that’s not all. The CDC report also suggests that “income inequality” could be a factor in the high HIV rates.
Translation: To combat HIV, we need socialism and more of Obama’s unilateral decrees mandating perversion.
