The California legislature is attempting to pass a law that would force companies to only let employees to work four days a week as a base work week.
Democrat loons Evan Low and Cristina Garcia are pushing Assembly Bill 2932, that would make a 32-hour workweek the standard for companies with more than 500 employees in California.
The legislature would also require companies to pay overtime for any hours worked past 32 a week. In addition, companies would be required to pay double-time to any employee that works more than 12 hours in a day.
The legislation would further bar companies from reducing employee pay rates to make up for the reduced hours. Meaning that employers must maintain employee hourly rates before and after the time the bill were to become law.

“There have been so many societal advances in the last 100 years. It doesn’t make sense that we are still holding onto a work schedule that served the Industrial Revolution,” Garcia, D-Bell Gardens, said in a statement. “It’s long overdue that this progress is shared with our workforce which deserves an improved quality of life.”
Low added that the pandemic allowed workers to “evaluate the employer/employee relationship,” and now, workers are “demanding more work-life balance from their employers.”
“AB 2932 seeks to address burnout and high-turnover rates by allowing flexibility in the workplace through a 4-day work week,” Low said.
All this bill would do is to kill new jobs, send more companies out of California, and forever freeze employee hourly rates at current levels.
One might also think the law is unconstitutional.
Still, this anti-business lunacy is in committee, so it would have a long trip to go to make law. But the fools in California love to force left-wing fantasy crap like this on the state, so it would not be surprising if it did become a law.
