WALKER DAUGHERTY Shot and injured: Is A Border Sheriff Covering Up Cross Border Violence?

Daugherty
Wikipedia

This is a story about 26 year old Walker Daugherty. He’s a hunting guide in New Mexico, and often takes clients to aoudad hunts in Presidio County, Texas. Last week he was shot, and seriously wounded, in a shootout that he and his hunting party claim was an attack by Mexicans, suspected of crossing the border, illegally.

But, maybe this story is really about the “authorities” in Presidio County and their rush to judgement on classifying this story as “fake news” and labeling the incident as a case of “friendly fire.”

CultureVigilante.com outlines the details of the the nights events via a statement made by  Gila Livestock Growers Association.

While guiding an aoudad hunt in Presidio county Texas, a New Mexico hunting guide was shot in the abdomen and seriously wounded Friday night after what appears to have been an attempt to kidnap his clients on the Mexico border.

The guide remains in critical condition in a Texas Hospital.    His client was also shot in the arm and is expected to recover.

Multiple assailants fired upon an RV parked near a hunting lodge where the party was staying for the hunt.  The contracted hunter and his wife were asleep in the in the RV when the attack began.

Walker Daugherty, 26, of Chloride, NM was wounded while attempting to stop the assailants from taking the RV with his clients inside.  He was assisted by another guide, Michael Bryant; the men were staying inside the lodge with their wives.

Per a family source, everyone was in bed preparing for an early hunt, the guides and cooks inside the house and the clients in the rental RV parked nearby.  Walker heard voices outside and went to see what the noises were, he witnessed men with guns attempting to take the RV, he then ran back inside to get help.  Walker and Michael armed themselves to defend and protect the client and to attempt to deter the assailants while the hunter attempted to escape in the RV which was being shot at repeatedly.  The vehicle is riddled with bullet holes from the attack and suffered other structural damage.

The attack lasted long enough for Walker to run back to the house and get more ammunition, when he was close to the door his sister, saw him get shot and was able to drag him inside the house and away from the gunfire.  The women in the lodge were able to get a spotty cell signal and call 911.

So, here’s where the rub starts. You might remember Sheriff Danny Dominguez. He was the presiding sheriff when Justice Antonin Scalia died at John Poindexter’s ranch. In this case, he doesn’t believe that there is cross border violence in his county. Really. And he’s wasted no time in making sure of it.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Big Bend Now lays it out:

The two men airlifted from a remote Presidio County ranch for treatment of severe gunshot wounds last week were either shot by each other or other members of their own hunting party, not attackers from Mexico.

That’s the conclusion the Presidio County Sheriff’s Office has reached after a weeklong investigation. Regardless, the incident triggered a viral fake news story shared across the internet, including by Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller, who has previously been criticized for sharing untrue stories.

Evidence recovered from the scene of last Friday’s shooting near Candelaria indicate the severe gunshot wounds inflicted on Walker Daugherty and Edwin Roberts were caused by friendly fire, the sheriff’s office said in a statement Friday.

“There were no bullet casings or projectiles from weapons other than those belonging to the individuals hunting on the ranch nor in the RV belonging to the hunting party.”

… The Sheriff’s Office continues to deny rumors spread since last week that the incident was caused by attackers who entered the Rio Grande-adjacent ranch from Mexico.

“There is no evidence that suggests ‘cross-border violence,’” the sheriff’s office statement said. The sheriff’s office was assisted in responding to the incident by U.S. Border Patrol agents, who searched the area with thermal imaging technology from the air and found no sign of anyone on the ranch other than the hunting party.

… Presidio County Sheriff Danny Dominguez told CBS7 News he believes Roberts was shot by Daugherty and Daugherty was shot by Michael Bryant, another hunter staying with them on the ranch.

However, it looks like the hunting party isn’t the only one who thinks this may be a cross border violence situation. The Texas Agriculture Commissioner, Sid Miller, thinks so, too.

The false account of the shooting was picked up by Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller and shared on his election campaign’s Facebook page. The unverified allegations of an attackers crossing the U.S.-Mexico border illegally have all the makings of a tough-on-border security talking point, an opportunity Miller did not miss.

“This is why we need the wall and to secure our borders,” Miller wrote in a post that was shared more than 6,500 times. “There are violent criminals and members of drug cartels coming in and it must put a stop to it [sic] before we have many more Walker Daughertys.”

Is Daugherty being sacrificed because of politics? Albuquerque Journal raises this point. … Tourism.

The Big Bend area of West Texas is a magnet for hunters and hikers. Tourism is big business from the hip, artsy town of Marfa into the wild reaches of the Big Bend National Park, which borders Mexico.

… “It’s a tourist attraction in the Big Bend area, and nobody wants to talk about it, but a lot of ranches have seen a lot of terrible things,” Schneberger said by phone. “This is personal.”

There has been a Go-Fund-Me account established for Walker Daugherty to help with medical bills, since he has no insurance.

This is a developing story, folks. The mainstream liberal media is not reporting it. Kind of makes you wonder how many other cases like Daugherty’s there are.
