Former Vice President Joe Biden must think Americans have shorter memory spans than he does, and that they are monumentally ill-informed because he committed at least two blunders during his final debate with President Donald Trump that fall well within the definition of “mind-numbingly stupid.”
According to Verify fact checks published by both KING5 news in Seattle and WUSA9 in Washington, D.C., Biden blew it when he contended nobody lost their private insurance under the Affordable Care Act unless they chose to.
“This claim is false,” says Verify. “According to Health Affairs, a peer-reviewed journal on health policy and affairs, some non-group health insurance plans in 2013 were canceled because they were not compliant with Affordable Care Act standards. The journal said many of those people were eligible for coverage assistance.”
Verify also debunked another Biden claim that apparently was easy. He asserted he has not opposed fracking, and dared Trump to post proof on his website that Biden had said he would prohibit the practice. Fox News beat the president to it, airing film clips showing Biden jumping around on the issue, but ultimately saying he would phase it out.
Noticeable because it has been absent in the debates were discussions on the differences between Biden and Trump on Second Amendment issues. There has been no in-depth discussion of Biden’s so-called “plan to end gun violence” contrasting with Trump’s efforts to fill federal court seats with constitutional judges and justices, including Judge Amy Coney Barrett, who may be appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court Monday.
Gun prohibition lobbying groups have bene energetically encouraging members to flood Capitol Hill with messages and phone calls to oppose Barrett’s confirmation.
An article in the Daily Beast says Barrett will “declare open season on gun control laws” if she fills the vacancy left by the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg.
Biden has not said whether he will attempt to “pack” the Supreme Court with additional liberal justices if he wins the election, but he has said he will appoint a commission to examine the issue on the grounds that the justice system is currently a shambles.
Friday morning, conservative radio was all over Biden’s missteps while ignoring or downplaying Trump’s errors. Conservative pundits say Trump won while liberals say Biden won.
The only poll that really counts is scheduled Nov. 3. Already tens of millions of voters have cast ballots in early voting.
The Las Vegas Review Journal reported Friday morning that Trump’s odds of winning re-election have improved, while “Biden remains an almost 2-1 favorite to win the election.
