A Biden Moment told at one of his campaign stops turned out to be inaccurate. Lately he’s been having some trouble with things…everything for example. But when he told an emotional military story in New Hampshire earlier in the month, The Washington Post checked it. It was “full of inaccuracies.”
“Biden’s allegedly tall tale was an emotional account of his decision to travel to Afghanistan, despite concerns about visiting a war-torn area, in order to honor a Navy captain for retrieving the body of his dead comrade during battle.
According to Biden, he brushed off concerns about the risk of him traveling to the deadly area. “We can lose a vice president,” he said, recounting his words to a crowd during an event on Friday. “We can’t lose many more of these kids. Not a joke.” His story involved the captain dramatically telling Biden he didn’t want the medal because his comrade ended up dying.”
When WaPo checked with the military, they said that incident never happened and almost every detail appears to be “incorrect.” He may have mish-mashed at a few stories together. Confusion is a symptom of dementia, or even damage from a brain bleed.
“In the space of three minutes, Biden got the time period, the location, the heroic act, the type of medal, the military branch and the rank of the recipient wrong, as well as his own role in the ceremony.”
Just a Biden Moment
His neurosurgeon claims he is as “sharp” as he was 31 years ago (Politico), and has been monitoring him. But recently he’s confused Vermont and New Hampshire, the decade when Robert Kennedy and MLK were assassinated, the year when he was Vice President, and even was videoed mumbling incoherently in a statement. Ordinary aging for someone who is always prone to gaffes? Possibly.
