He’s tried to blame Vladimir Putin, and he’s tried to blame Republicans, the oil companies and American consumers, but a new Rasmussen survey says a majority of likely voters “say (Joe) Biden bears the most responsibility for higher fuel prices.”
It’s not the kind of gas pain that can be solved with a tablet, either.
Fifty-one percent of likely voters blame Biden, and a whopping 84 percent told Rasmussen the “rising price of gasoline, home heating oil and other petroleum products is a serious problem, including 61% who say it’s a Very Serious Problem.”
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
The survey, released Wednesday, was conducted from among 1,000 likely voters April 24-25 with a margin of error of +/- 3 percentage points and a 95 percent level of confidence.
Rasmussen says “These findings are virtually unchanged since November. ”
There are some politically telling statistics in this latest poll. According to Rasmussen, “76% of Republicans think Biden bears most responsibility for higher fuel prices, as do 24% of Democrats and 54% of voters not affiliated with either major party. An overwhelming majority of Democrats, however, say either major oil companies (41%) or Putin (25%) bear most responsibility for the rise in fuel prices.”
Translation: Democrats are still defending their presidential pick, despite rising inflation.
All of this spells trouble for Democrats in November, when many political observers expect Congress to switch to GOP control in what some believe will be a political bloodbath.
According to Rasmussen, “Majorities of every political category – 91% of Republicans, 77% of Democrats and 85% of unaffiliated voters – agree that higher fuel prices are a serious problem. Eighty-two percent (82%) of Republicans, 38% of Democrats and 65% of unaffiliated voters think Biden has not done enough to stop the rising price of gasoline, home heating oil and other petroleum products.”
On top of that, American gun owners are rolling up their sleeves in several regions to take Congress and some legislatures away from Democrats in an effort to derail gun control proposals. Second Amendment activists note how Virginia changed hands last November in the off-year election, and they believe it is now possible to do it nationwide.
