On July 20, Biden stood in front of the site of a “shuttered” coal plant in Somerset, Massachusetts and delivered a speech on green energy. The speech was supposed to be on his plan to issue Executive Orders that would bypass Congressional approval. He made a fool out of himself (again) by claiming oil from refineries in Pennsylvania gave him cancer. Immediate walk-back by his staff. Then on Thursday, he tested positive for Covid (after 4 vaccinations).
Biden Cancer?
During his speech, he claimed that growing up in Claymont, Delaware, after the first frost, people had to use their windshield wipers to remove the oil slick on their cars from the oil refineries in Pennsylvania. The main issue with that claim is that using windshield wipers on oil residue would simply slime it around on the windshield, not remove it.

WH staff immediately told reporters that no, Joe doesn’t have cancer now, but did have some benign skin melanomas removed some time ago. He used to spend a lot of time in the sun, they said, which was the cause of the melanoma. He was mistaken. In truth, he was trying to make oil refineries out to be the dangerous bad guys that cause cancer, so he told a story. He tells a lot of stories.
Update: WH official tells me POTUS was referring to past removal of skin cancer in his remarks from Massachusetts.

Positive for Covid
This morning, President Biden tested positive for COVID-19. He is fully vaccinated and twice boosted and experiencing very mild symptoms. He has begun taking Paxlovid…Per standard protocol for any positive case at the White House, the White House Medical Unit will inform all close contacts of the President during the day today, including any Members of Congress and any members of the press who interacted with the President during yesterday’s travel. The President’s last previous test for COVID was Tuesday, when he had a negative test result.
