Joe Biden called Fox reporter Peter Doocy a “stupid son of a bitch” just after a press briefing on Monday. But as everyone focuses on the name calling, it was what he said before that which gives one pause to wonder who’s the stupid one. Was it just sarcasm?
“The only reason I don’t like doing this is because you never report on why I’ve called a meeting, and this is important,” Biden said. “I had a very, very, very good meeting. Totally unanimity with all the European leaders. We’ll talk about it later. Thank you.”
“Will you take questions on inflation then?” Doocy then asked. “Do you think inflation will be a political liability ahead of the midterms?”
As Doocy and the other reporters were being shooed away, Biden took a swipe at the Fox News correspondent.
“No, it’s a great asset, more inflation. What a stupid son of a b—-,” Biden said to his Cabinet.
Inflation is an “asset?” To whom? Certainly not to Americans who are struggling to keep up with high gas prices, out of sight grocery items, and everything else that has skyrocketed. Best we pay attention. Democrats are up to something, count on it. It may be more than sheer stupidity.
Biden called Peter Doocy about an hour after the altercation and told him that it “wasn’t personal, pal.” According to Doocy, they had a good call. (Although there wasn’t any real apology.) Biden has attacked a Fox reporter before, saying Jacqui Heinrich asked him a “stupid question” about the Ukraine situation. The White House had to walk that one back.The bare fact is that Biden told his administration at the very beginning that they would treat reporters with “decency and dignity.” He must have forgotten that admonition. Not that something like forgetting could EVER happen.
“I’m not joking when I say this: If you’re ever working with me and I hear you treat another colleague with disrespect or talk down to someone, I promise you, I will fire you on the spot — on the spot. No ifs ands or buts. “Everybody is entitled to be treated with decency and dignity.”
