Biden Botch continues: Polls pound prez over Afghan debacle

Biden
Joe Biden is under increasing criticism for the Afghanistan debacle.

Joe Biden is getting creamed by his critics over the Afghanistan mess for what Fox News is portraying as a “botched troop withdrawal that that saw the Taliban take the country,” and now a couple of new polls show the president’s popularity continues to slide as the situation deteriorates on the nightly news.

A new USA Today/Suffolk University poll shows Biden’s job approval rating “now stands at 41% who approve versus 55% who disapprove.” That’s a sharp drop from previous national polls that showed Biden hanging on at about 50 percent approval.

And the Rasmussen Daily Presidential Tracking Poll shows Biden getting roasted by the numbers, with 44 percent approval versus 55 percent disapproval, and that breaks down to only 26 percent of likely voters who strongly approve of the job he is doing, but 47 percent strongly disapproving. He’s got a -21 rating on the Presidential Approval Index, Rasmussen said.

That’s not all. According to USA Today, “while he has held the backing of 87% of Democrats, only 32% of independents say he’s doing a good job.”

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

There’s an even tougher Rasmussen poll, this one showing 59 percent of likely voters “Voters believe the Biden administration is not doing enough to evacuate Americans from Afghanistan. Twenty-eight percent (28%) say the Biden administration is doing enough to rescue Americans. Thirteen percent (13%) are not sure.”

This is all happening while faithful Democrat voters and Vice President Kamala Harris are sticking with their leader. According to Fox News, Harris “gave credit to President Biden for deciding to end the war in Afghanistan, even though members of the administration – including Biden himself – have blamed former President Trump for agreeing to withdraw U.S. troops.”

But the majority of voters aren’t buying it, according to Rasmussen.

“Eighty-one percent (81%) of Republicans say the Biden administration is not doing enough to evacuate Americans from Afghanistan,” Rasmussen revealed, “an opinion shared by 36% of Democrats and 63% of unaffiliated voters.”

And here are a couple of other poll results that should cause shivers inside the Beltway: “Eighty-nine percent (89%) of Republicans, 64% of Democrats and 73% of voters not affiliated with either major party believe it is at least somewhat likely that Americans who remain in Afghanistan will be taken hostage by the Taliban.

“Eighty-eight percent (88%) of Republicans, 72% of Democrats and 74% of unaffiliated voters think that if the Taliban takes Americans hostage in Afghanistan, the United States should use military force to rescue the hostages,” Rasmussen added.
