Biden blows it again; wrong on Taliban overwhelming Afghanistan

Joe Biden is taking heat for his July prediction-now in shambles-that a Taliban sweep across Afghanistan is “highly unlikely.”   (YouTube, Biden-Harris campaign.)

As published reports confirm the Taliban are sweeping across Afghanistan and preparing to capture Kabul, President Joe Biden’s dismissal of a possible Taliban surge last month when he said, “But the likelihood there’s going to be the Taliban overrunning everything and owning the whole country is highly unlikely” now looks like a monstrous miscalculation.

According to Fox News, Glenn Kessler—the Washington Post Fact Checker—tweeted Thursday evening that Biden’s prediction “didn’t age well.”

This comes on the heels of the report in Forbes that Biden had “issued a request…to OPEC+ leaders, urging them to … produce more oil.”

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Biden is the man who cancelled the Keystone XL Pipeline project and has pushed a “green” agenda, as noted by Forbes. Here’s what senior contributor David Blackmon wrote:

“It seems instructive at this point to note that neither Biden or Sullivan issued any similar request to America’s own producers of oil and gas, who could, if they wanted to, significantly ramp up oil production here in the United States. Of course, this administration has been working at ensuring these domestic producers find it as hard as possible to increase their own production over the last 8 months, and plans to continue that work for at least three more years, so asking for more production from them would have been even more ironic than asking other nations to damage their own economies for America’s benefit, which is exactly what the White House is asking the OPEC+ nations to do with this request.”

Biden may be worried he now has to own the economic debacle that has developed because of his out-of-the-gate declaration of war on the domestic oil industry. Gasoline is now at least dollar more expensive than it was at this time last year, and like it or not, the economy does revolve around the cost of a gallon of gas or diesel. Just ask anyone about food prices or the cost of other goods; anything that must be transported to local stores from warehouses via truck. The costs are being passed on to consumers, and many are experiencing “buyers’ remorse” about the man many of them voted for last November.

Writing at Fox News, Rep. Michael Waltz observed in an Op-Ed published Friday, wrote about the Afghan situation with a far different perspective than the Beltway pundits who are considered Democrat lapdogs now covering for Biden.

“It’s unclear whether Biden is clueless or heartless or both,” the congressman observed. “But he is living up to his reputation of being ‘wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades,’ as described by former Defense Secretary Robert Gates. It’s worth remembering that Biden also opposed the raid to kill Usama Bin Laden.”

Waltz is a Green Beret veteran now representing Florida’s 6th Congressional District. He serves on the Armed Services Committee, and is a former White House counterterrorism policy adviser, so it’s safe to conclude he knows a bit about the deteriorating situation in Afghanistan.

The Wall Street Journal and other news agencies reported that Biden is sending 3,000 troops back to Afghanistan “to evacuate most of the staff (at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul) as it cuts the diplomatic presence to an essential core. Other Western embassies are readying similar plans, fearing that the Taliban could lay siege to the Afghan capital within days.”

Biden is now only in his eighth month in office. His critics are wondering what else he will miscalculate in the months, and years, remaining.
