Biden Administration Now Wants to Ban Chocolate Milk in Elementary Schools

Will the Nanny State EVER Stop?

The USDA is considering a ban on Chocolate Milk for elementary students. Apparently, they had a public comment period, however some of us never heard about it. They want to limit chocolate milk for high school students 9-12 and ban it outright in elementary schools because of the added sugars. It’s one of the most popular drinks in America. The USDA plans to introduce the measure for the 2025-2026 school year.

“From a public-health perspective, it makes a lot of sense to try to limit the servings of these flavored milks because they do have quite a lot of added sugar.” Erica Lauren Kenney,  public-health and nutrition professor at the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health (AL.com)

The USDA believes removing chocolate milk, even the low-fat kind, will help prevent obesity in children. Except that what the kid does outside of school they have no control over. But that’s obviously the point: control. And the more they ban things like chocolate milk, the more kids and parents will seek out the banned items.

The ‘powers that be’ didn’t like sugared soda drinks, so the manufacturers made “Zero Sugar” pop, most of which is full of caffeine. You can get orange juice in some school vending machines, but not all “healthy drinks” are sugar or corn syrup free. Corn syrup is sugar in the body’s metabolism. Might as well dump a few tablespoons of raw sugar in it- works the same, but is raw sugar better for you?

“Corn syrup contains high amounts of fructose (55 percent) and glucose (45 percent).” (Medicinenet)

Added sugars are different than regular sugar. Cutting out all sugar entirely is a bad idea, according to Johns Hopkins, although they recommend dumping the processed foods that contain added sugars. Chocolate milk has added sugars.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

The problem lies in the demand to force children (or even adults) to eat what the government tells you to eat. While healthy children are a worthy idea, forcing them or their parents to do what they say could backfire. People do not like to be coerced. This administration is hell-bent to coerce all Americans into their viewpoint, even to altering things that have been on the market for literally decades. Frankly, they should leave chocolate milk alone.

“We want to take a product that most kids like and that has nine essential nutrients in it and say, ‘You can’t drink this. You have to drink plain.’ What are we trying to prove?”” Urban School Food Alliance executive director Katie Wilson (Fox)
