Bad poll for Biden: Majority of likely voters think he should quit

A new Rasmussen poll contains some bad news for Joe Biden. A lot of Americans think he should resign.

A new Rasmussen poll contains some bad news for Joe Biden in the wake of his disastrous handling of the Afghanistan crisis, and it’s not very flattering for his vice president, either.

A lot of people don’t believe Kalama Harris is ready to inhabit the Oval Office.

The new survey, released Wednesday, says 52 percent of likely voters “believe Biden should resign because of the way the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan was handled.” Rasmussen called it “the botched Afghanistan withdrawal.”

Worse still, the Rasmussen poll—taken Aug. 30-31 from among 1,000 likely voters—revealed that a staggering 60 percent of respondents “agree with a statement last week by South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham: “I think Joe Biden deserves to be impeached because he’s abandoned thousands of Afghans who fought with us and he’s going to abandon some American citizens because he capitulated to the Taliban to a 31 August deadline.”

According to Rasmussen, “If Biden were to resign or be removed through impeachment, however, Harris would then become president, and most voters don’t think the VP is ready for that job.”

Rasmussen’s poll revealed that “Only 38% say Harris is qualified to assume the duties of being president, including 25% who view her as Very Qualified to become president.
But 58 percent think Harris is “unqualified to assume the duties of the president, including 47% who say she is Not At All Qualified.”

Biden is under heavy criticism for his handling of the Afghanistan withdrawal and his check-the-watch conduct while observing the return of 13 fallen service members who were murdered by a suicide bomber outside the Kabul airport last week. Even establishment media have been critical of Biden, underscoring how poorly his performance as president is perceived across the political spectrum.

The political partisan breakdown is predictable. Only 32 percent of Democrats think Biden should resign, but a whopping 75 percent of Republicans and 48 percent of Independent voters think he should go. Sixty-nine percent of Republicans think he should be impeached, a view shared by 44 percent of Independents and a surprising 26 percent of Democrats. And here’s another surprise:

If Biden should quit, “More women (49%) than men (43%) say they Strongly Agree with Graham’s statement about Biden deserving to be impeached, and women are less confident than men that Harris is qualified to assume the duties of the presidency if Biden leaves office,” Rasmussen discovered.

Democrats by 62 percent think Harris is at least “somewhat” qualified to take over the reins of president. However, only 17 percent of Republicans and 32 percent of Independents share that opinion.

One more revelation in Rasmussen’s poll is that “Fifty-one percent (51%) of whites, 48% of black voters and 57% of other minorities believe Biden should resign because of the way the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan was handled. Black voters (48%) are more likely than whites or other minorities (both 36%) to believe Harris is qualified to assume the duties of the presidency.”
