The departure of award-winning investigative journalist Sharyl Attkisson from CBS News leaves a huge hole in that agency’s news team, and a pair of shoes that will be difficult to fill.
Attkisson was first to expose the national audience to Operation Fast and Furious, a story the “Big Three” networks seemed determined to ignore but for Attkisson’s persistence.
She also dug up embarrassing facts about Benghazi and the Obamacare website, reportedly leading some to suggest she had a bias against the Obama administration. Conversely, it is already being suggested that the bias has been on the part of CBS and other news agencies that have essentially given Barack Obama a pass.
Attkisson is reportedly writing a book with the tentative title Stonewalled: One Reporter’s Fight for Truth in Obama’s Washington, to be published by Harper Collins, according to Politico.
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
It will be difficult for another CBS reporter to follow in Attkisson’s footsteps.
