Atlanta Radio Host Broadcasts Fake Trump Interview..Gets Suspended

WYAY_Shows_McCoy_654x300_032515Steve McCoy, a radio host in Atlanta, broadcast an interview he said he had done with Donald Trump a day or two before.  The broadcast on Wednesday covered no issues relevant to the 2016 presidential race.  McCoy claimed that was because he had made an agreement with the Trump campaign not to do so because Trump didn’t know what his stances would be.   On Thursday, McCoy did not appear on the air and is said to be in hiding.  McCoy claimed the interview took place before the democratic debate.

Donald Trump and his campaign both denied that he had been interviewed by McCoy, before the debate or at any time during his run for the Republican nomination for the presidency.  As it turned out, the interview had been from over a year before and that’s why there was no mention of Trump’s run for the presidency.  How in the world he thought he could get away with the scam cannot be explained.  (Unless of course he was the Democratic front runner for the presidency)

Trump’s lawyer paid a visit to Mr. McCoy, who admitted the fraud and apologized.  BuzzFeed’s Andrew Kaczynski, spoke to the Trump campaign and to McCoy, concluding:

A lawyer for the Trump campaign disputes radio host Steve McCoy’s account, telling BuzzFeed News that Trump did not do an interview with the Georgia radio host this week. The lawyer, Donald McGahn, says McCoy admitted to him the interview took place a year ago.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Hope Hicks, a spokeswoman for the Trump campaign slammed McCoy at length in a statement to BuzzFeed News.

“This interview did not take place,” Hicks said. “It is a fraud and/or a spoof. The Trump campaign has never communicated with this man. He said Mr. Trump spoke to him yesterday prior to the debate, Mr. Trump never spoke to him yesterday or any day before that. The radio host admitted it was a fraud to our attorney, apologized and he is now hiding and not returning anyone’s call. This is representative of the dishonesty Mr. Trump faces from the media.”

McCoy admitted to Kaczynski that the interview was a recycled one and that he had been suspended.  No word on the length of the suspension, but it would stand to reason it will be for at least as long as the station needs to complete their investigation and then a final decision will be made.
