Arizona Lawmakers Held Hostage as Abortion Protesters Attack

As Arizona lawmakers were voting on a series of bills last night at the State Capitol in Phoenix, a mob of abortion protesters surrounded the doors to the building and began trying to break the glass. Friday was the last day of the legislative session. Police were on alert anyway for the ‘night of rage’ and used tear gas to disperse the large group of “protesters.”

The Republican Caucus responded and referred to the protesters’ actions as an attempted “insurrection.”

“Violent pro-abortion protestors’ attempts of an insurrection were thwarted Friday night, thanks to the swift action from local and state law enforcement. While Arizona State Senate members were wrapping up passing important legislaton for the session, extremist demonstrators made their way to the entrance of the Senate building and began forcibly trying to make entry by breaking windows and pushing down doors. Law enforcement monitoring this sitution were able to call for backup and were able to disperse the crowd with tear gad before entry was made… Senate proceedings were moved to another room so that Senators could continue the people’s work…”

Kim Quintero, the Republican Caucus’ communications director. (Arizona Senate Republicans)

“We are currently there being held hostage inside the Senate building due to members of the public trying to breach our security. We smell tear gas and the children of one of the members are in the office sobbing with fear. I expect a J24 committee to be created immediately…We were in the middle of a vote on the expansion of ESA for all so that parents may take their child to the school of their choice when protesters started attempting to kick in the doors. Was this really an attempt to stop that vote more than a #RvW protest? Did not work, though.”  Senator Kelly Townsend,

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

The Arizona Lawmakers were admonished not to leave the building while the situation was ongoing. They said they could smell the tear gas and hear the chaotic incident. As the crowd finally dispersed, the Senators moved to a secure room to continue their work.

The next guy has it exactly right:

The members were able to finish their work.
