It’s one thing for individual newspapers or networks to be hopelessly drowning in partisan biases — but what happens when the problem is upstream of that… corrupting THEIR news sources?
As legacy has been waning in influence and profitability, they have been looking for ways to cut costs. Like other industries, they have turned to ‘outsourcing’ more expensive aspects of their workforce. That means leaning on wire services like Reuters and the Associated Press to provide the boots-on-the-ground reporting when news breaks in far-flung parts of the world.
For such an arrangement to work requires confidence that the core facts of any news provided in such a way can be relied upon. Blatant examples of political bias will necessarily undermine any such trust relationship.
Stories like this one by the AP prove Trump’s complaint of the media being mostly ‘fake news’ to be more accurate than they would care to admit.
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
Israel's military campaign in Gaza seen as among the most destructive in history, experts say https://t.co/9of9avIGS5

As the headline might suggest, that article makes some pretty outrageous claims. Here’s a taste of it with the first 3 paragraphs:
The Israeli military campaign in Gaza, experts say, now sits among the deadliest and most destructive in recent history.
In just over two months, the offensive has wreaked more destruction than the razing of Syria’s Aleppo between 2012 and 2016, Ukraine’s Mariupol or, proportionally, the Allied bombing of Germany in World War II. It has killed more civilians than the U.S.-led coalition did in its three-year campaign against the Islamic State group.
The Israeli military has said little about what kinds of bombs and artillery it is using in Gaza. But from blast fragments found on-site and analyses of strike footage, experts are confident that the vast majority of bombs dropped on the besieged enclave are U.S.-made. They say the weapons include 2,000-pound (900-kilogram) “bunker-busters” that have killed hundreds in densely populated areas. — AP

Here are a few of the pending notes currently under consideration:
This addresses the deaths (although deaths were NOT the number being cherry-picked by the AP here… because Israel went far out of its way to give plenty time for innocents to get the hell out of Dodge.
Others narrowed in on the specific claims of comparative destruction.
Replies were pretty wild, too.
