The driver of a garbage truck that was hit by an Amtrak train carrying Republican members of Congress to a retreat has died at the scene. At least one Congressional member and a staffer were being examined after the crash, but no serious injuries were reported among Congressional members. One other person in the truck was said to be critical and was airlifted from the scene.
Fox reported that the accident happened in Crozet near Charlottesville, Virginia as the train was headed to Greenbriar for the annual GOP retreat. The garbage truck was reportedly on the tracks when the accident occurred.
Law enforcement swarmed the area, to determine if the incident was really an accident or the result of a plot. At this point it appears to be an accident.
