Administrator of conservative Facebook page ‘temporarily blocked’ for allegedly scheduling posts too fast

It seems that Facebook, the social media giant dubbed the “world’s most dangerous censor,” is finding even more creative ways to stifle conservatives who make use of the platform.  On Sunday, we received word from an administrator of the popular “Wake Up America, the Original” Facebook page that she and her fellow administrators were temporarily blocked for scheduling posts too fast.

For those not familiar with some of the administrative functions on a Facebook page, posts can be scheduled to appear well in advance.  Administrators can use this feature to ensure that things get posted even if they are physically unable to do so in person.  It’s a handy feature to have, especially for those with busy schedules.

One administrator told us he has been unable to schedule anything to at least three of his pages since August 23, and provided screen shots of what he got from Facebook:

FacebookFacebook too fastThose who use Facebook regularly and post to groups know that one can get slapped for posting in groups too fast, but this is the first time we have ever heard of anyone getting hammered for scheduling too fast.  After all, the posts don’t go up until the scheduled date and time.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

One of the administrators who reached out to us said he “reported a problem” to Facebook and emailed every contact he has at the company, but they never responded.  Later, he said he received a text on Monday from a page editor, saying that it’s okay to post again, meaning the ban lasted about four days.

This isn’t the first time the page has been targeted by the social media giant, as it has been repeatedly torn down over false claims only to be quickly restored.

Incidents like this are the reason activist Chris Sevier drafted an anti-social media censorship proposal that is now being considered by several state legislators across the country.

As Sevier explained:

Those individual websites are engaging in contracts with users in the states and can be regulated for bad faith, unfair dealing, and fraudulent inducement. Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act of 1996 would safeguard Internet providers and search engines from this act but not interactive individual websites with more than 75,000,000 people who market themselves as being open to the public and open to the sharing of ideas only to prove otherwise.

In my opinion, Facebook has perpetrated a form of fraudulent inducement, tortious interference of business relations, breach of the duty of care, unjust enrichment, and the intentional infliction of emotional distress by at first allowing conservatives and Christians to build a platform where they were supposedly free to express themselves only to then turn around and arbitrarily find some speech permissible and other speech impermissible.

Additionally, a website has been set up that lets users tell their stories of Facebook censorship and abuse.
