Sometimes former Vice President Joe Biden shoves his foot so far into his mouth that it’s downright scary. Sometimes he says things that are totally wrong. This is one of those. At a speech in New Hampshire on Tuesday, he said the Second Amendment (2A) exists, but “doesn’t say that everyone is entitled to own a gun.”
Perhaps he failed to read the Heller decision from the Supreme Court. Or a history book. Or doesn’t know the meaning of “keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”
The former Vice President has been an advocate for assault weapons bans, and other gun control measures for years. As he continued to spew his disdain for firearms on Tuesday, he said this:
“By the way, if one of you left the keys in your car down the street, and a kid comes along and jumps in it and takes off, you could be held liable civilly for that. So if you own a gun, put a damn trigger lock on it. Put it in a case. You have an obligation.” Joe Biden
Not necessarily true, Joe. But then, the whole concept of using a firearm for self defense or the defense of others is completely foreign to liberals. The 2A is a foundational amendment in the Bill of Rights.
Putting a “damn” trigger lock on a weapon, and locking it in a case defeats its purpose: it becomes immediately unavailable if needed. If you have small children, that’s different, although teaching them at a young age about firearms is a great remedy for stupidity.

Biden also spoke about past gun bans he supported. He specifically referenced the 1994 “assault weapons” ban and noted that it also “limited the number of bullets in a clip.” Additionally, he spoke about being former President Barack Obama’s point man for gun control following the December 14, 2012, attack on Sandy Hook Elementary School.
It’s not a “clip” Joe, it’s a magazine.
In 2013, Biden said that both he and then President Obama supported the Second Amendment. Sounds like he’s speaking out of both sides of his mouth depending on the audience.
So far Biden is the frontrunner in a crowded field of radical leftist candidates for the Democrat Party in 2020. Yummy.
